Fake MF Doom Strikes Again?

The mighty Mos took over the Congress Theater in Chicago Saturday night and it appears that a fake DOOM was in the house. After the alleged impostor’s performance, fans got rowdy and threw objects onto the stage. No time for unexpected guests!

did DOOM pull this random act of fuckery when he and Mos were here in NYC in January? seriously, i’ve read DOOM’s response about this happening, and I still think it’s Eff’d up. #EpicFail

  2. Felipe says:

@graf isn’t the mos def/doom show moved to later this month? i know that’s the case for toronto

  3. obama says:

funniest shit is a fake, lip-synching Doom is still a better show than 50% of these garbage rapper out there doing shows…

  4. alan2000xl says:

why the fuck would anyone pay to see a nigga like doom if they know bullshit like this can happen, plus his music sounds like dick live anyway.

  5. That_josh says:

Umm I don’t give a fuck mf doom is lame right up there with gucci mane and wack flack flames.

  6. NYC says:

The NYC show is on feb,26th…I got tix I’m sure he’ll pull the same shit!!! It ain’t the first time this happened.. I went to the Tokyo music fest in 2007 in central park… He was the headliner he never showed.. The host said he had an assma attack!!!! They had to get rakim to fill in. Fuck it no loss really I still get to see mos def.
I guess it’s all part of dooms plan… He is the super villan right!!! Best mc with no chain you ever heard!!!! DOOM

  7. Mike G says:

Don’t get your hopes up for Mos Def. He was just as shitty as the fake DOOM. I’ve seen Mos live before and he’s usually awesome, but at this show he arrived 5 HOURS LATE and was completely unprepared. He only performed for 20 minutes, including a bunch of pauses in between to talk to his DJ (only one of whom appeared – usually he has 2) to decide what to play next. He didn’t apologize for being late or anything, he just said “Calm down, calm down, we’re all here.” It was totally bullshit. We weren’t going nuts in the crowd because of DOOM, it was because they were both late, the doors were opened an hour and a half late, the first opening act was horrible and border-line racist the whole time, they made Mike Relm perform for nearly 2 hours before telling us that Mos wasn’t even there yet, and it was sold out with 4000+ people all expecting a good show. We got fucked.

Check out my review of the show here: http://waitinforthedj.blogspot.com/2010/02/mos-def-doom-in-chicago-concert-review.html

    Peace.

  8. Felipe says:

@Mike G nice review. I think I might just save my money and refund my ticket before it’s too late.

I really thought that because Mos was there, the real DOOM would show, but I guess that just goes to show how much of a villain/asshole that dude is

ahh fuck you doom. you’re concerts suck but you’re albums are nuts.

  9. inkone says:

MOSDOOMPOSTERS!!!!!!!!!!! damn was i hyped as hell to see this fuckin show, i seen the fake doom with the same hype man this summer at pitchfork, then to come bak 6 months later on the same bullshit, i dont know whats supervillain about not showing up to your shows, thats just fuckin retarded, the actual dr doom has more sense then this fake clown, mos came out strong, spittiing doom songs with a homemade mask, but after standin around for 6 hours its hard to enjoy a show, then after his 3 doom songs he slowly started declining by doing all shit from the estactic album, which is my least favorite and im sure everyone else agrees. With no black on both sides or blackstar or newdanger i found myself standing in a crowd nuts to butts sweating my ass off and wondering wtf, but still awaitin doom, then out of nowhere mos leaves stage, then out comes doom, they didnt even stand on stage together for a milli sec, mos prolly like im not fronting with this fool. Then out comes the lipsynching, doom on some milli vanilli shit, new album coming soon, millivilliany. Fuckin ashley simpson wannabe,as you clearly hear every rhyme word for word meanwhile the whole night the vocals sounded like dick, then come the boos after about 4 songs in!!!! word spreads though the show and then riot!!!! every one is tossing water bottles, beer cans, to bad not chairs, onto the stage and out comes chicagos finest. Police and security rushing everyone out the theatre. Now im bootleggin all of dooms shit and linkin it to every hip hop site, ill be the superduper villain, biiiiiaaaaatttccchhh

  10. papo says:

    Wait. This was all playback?

I was about to say, it sounded like Doom and shit..

  11. koa29 says:

Don’t really get the whole idea behind sending impostors to your shows instead of yourself…. Like the dude makes some dope ass music, but he ruins it doing this shit… I just dont get it

  12. graf says:

i’ve seen DOOM live once at BB Kings. Pretty incredible. Then I read an interview last yr where he said people come to hear his music, not see him (really?). so it doesn’t really have to be him behind the mask at his shows, cause regardless, the people are still hearing his music…#fuckouttahere

  13. Dee says:

if you wanna ear ihis music Graf, then people would just pop in a cd…..shows give it a time for artist to interact with the fans, spit freestyles etc……..pure BS of an Artist…Sue that bitch for false advertisement

  14. Can says:

@MikeG explain how BBU is racist?

  15. MikeG says:

@Can – BBU wasn’t straight up racist, I just said they were borderline racist. Some of their songs went beyond raising up minorities to aggressively targeting whites specifically. And it wasn’t even just that really, it was the way they would motion and gesture to the crowd at times, often during lines like that. For instance, there was once point at which one of the members gestured like he was masturbating at one audience member whenever he sang “I do it for my color” or something like that. It just came off as really hateful. I’m sure it didn’t help that they were getting booed the whole time, but that’s because they weren’t very good yet proceeded to act cocky.

  16. inkone says:

@MikeG — BBU was the name of them fuckers, they sucked. i totally agree with you on that borderline racist shit, i mean 80 percent of the crowd was white and in one song he said some shit along the lines of i killed that white mother fucker. meanwhile one of the members was rocking a fuckin stanford hoody over a white button up with a stupidass mo hawk trying to act gangster. looked like a frat boy hahah thats why ppl threw water bottles at em haha

  17. davidR says:

I’m not going to the show in Toronto tonight; MOS already canceled too. There is about 0 chance of DOOM showing up to Toronto if he didn’t go to Chicago.

GOT DOOM? …. For a more in-depth discussion of the MFDOOM saga, as well as of course, the most insight that you’ll EVER get into the Artist enigma that we call MFDOOM, from one of his closest confidants – check out the website at http://gotdoom.metalfacerecords.com. Please also note that all participation is FREE–all feedback and comments are listed in the order that they are received–and had been explicitly-requested sometime late last year by MFDOOM, himself.

  19. […] Stones Throw is pushing a new shirt from MF Doom in collaboration with Paris’ Veenom. Doom, never a fan of topless rappers, makes another foray into the clothing market with this number, available in black and white versions. Know a rapper in need of proper attire? Hook them up with one of these and then send them to Metal Face, he might have a job for them as well. […]
