    WELL DESERVED!!!! CONGRATS TO CLEF!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  2. Shawn says:

I would name him “Humanitarian” if anything.. And no shots but Clefs sole focus is Haiti (as it should be) his efforts don’t reach beyond the borders of his Homeland..
And this has the credibility of Def Jam giving someone “Scholar Of the Year”…
Seems like they like giving awards to famous people. I’m pretty sure someone not famous gets their hands dirty too…. But Clef, Will and Halle makes an irrelevant award “news”

  3. Noles506 says:

^ exactly…. How is Harvard even able to name it that? He put out a shitty mixtape , and maybe an album no one listened to or bought…… On the other hand, he did some great charity work…..but the charitable work he did has nothing to do with his work or lack there of as an artist.

HATE MY OPINION CUZ IT DOESNT MATTER!

  4. T says:

wow… just goes to show even the smartest people can make the dumbest decisions.

  5. THUNDERKUSH says:

There’s a difference between being “ARTIST OF THE YEAR” and receiving an award for humanitarian aid. There’s no way Clef was the artist of 2009.

  6. mac DIESEL says:

YA’LL NOT GETTIN’ IT!!!! HE’S THE “ARTIST OF THE YEAR” AS FAR AS HIS HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS!!!! WHEN THEY SAY “ARTIST” IT MEANS IN MUSIC OR ACTING, WHAT “ARTISTS'” EFFORTS WAS RECOGNIZED THE MOST!!!!! IT HAS NOTHIN’ TO DO WITH MUSIC!!!! CLEF WAS THE BEST “ARTIST” OUT OF ALL THE ARTISTS” IN REGARDS TO HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS THIS YEAR!!!! C’MON, YA’LL QUESTIONING HARVARD??? PAY ATTENTION NIGGAS!!!! GET YA COMPREHENSION SKILLS UP!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  7. Chipped Tooth Condition says:

    mac got it

  8. Shawn says:

I got you Mac. And totaly see your point. But what I’m pointing to the fact that if this earthquake doesn’t make Clef a house hold name, again. With all do respect to the Brothers effort there is philanthropy and humanitarian efforts done by folks acrross the world not just one place.
And when you look at the list of previous winners it’s clear this is an award starved for attention, thus giving it to Clef post earthquake when Clefs pre earthquake efforts have always been there.
And if we really keeping real…with all due respect to the Brother, he hasn’t been an artist is yrs. He’s much more recognized as the face of Haiti than making cultural significant works of art..
It just bothers me when “awards” honor people that will conviently get their award coverage and are really exploiting the new “it” thing “Helping Haiti”.. I just hope they cut a big ass check to help too cause the Haitians can’t sleep under them awards..
Shit I guess they didn’t specify if you needed to be a good artist..LOL

  9. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Shawn

I GET WUT U SAYIN’!!!! THEM AWARDS REALLY DON’T MEAN NOTHIN’!!!! IT’S THE ACTION THAT SPEAKS LOUDER THAN THE AWARD!!!! U TAKE THAT AWARD FOR WUT IT’S WORTH N USE IT TO DRAW AWARENESS TO WUT’S GOIN’ ON!!! CLEF HAS DONE ALOT FOR HIS PEOPLE N PEOPLE IN GENERAL!!!! AS FAR AS MUSIC, I LOST INTEREST AFTER “THE CARNIVAL” ALBUM!!!! ONE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

WYCLEF HAS A GOOD HEART SO WHAT ABOUT THAT FUGEE’S REUNION CLEF?

  11. T says:

Nope. His humanitarian work would be honorable if it wasn’t a gimmick, but the man’s whole steez is a joke. Their are MUCH better artistic contenders for this award then this opportunistic hack. He just happened to fit the bill this round because he’s Haitian. Super real talk.
