  1. soowoop says:

all this coverage and not one GREAT record yet… we need to spot pushing this young “developing” talent up to fail…

  2. I Know Music says:

I wonder if people out there really understand how dope J. Cole is? Lyrical, humble (enough), swag, carisma and his boss is the God MC. His 2 mixtapes were absolute fire and it makes me think about what he’ll be able to do now that he has the “machine” behind him. The machine that is controlled by Jay Z. I hope he stays true to what he’s already done and doesn’t switch his style up. J. Cole, B.O.B., Drake and Nipsy Hustle – Hip Hop’s near future is finally looking a little brighter.

  3. mac DIESEL says:

J COLE GOT SKILLS!!!! IF HE STAYS FOCUSED, HE’S GONNA BE A PROBLEM!!!! FINALLY SOMETHIN’ NEW N FRESH FROM THE SOUTH!!!! KEEP KILLIN’ ‘EM J!!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  4. p says:

So he’s coverin XXL AND the Source in the same month?

    #clapforhim

  5. Nathaniel says:

damn this is a GREAT LOOK. i’m copping this shit AS SOON as it drops.

not to shift gears, but with all the hype lupe initially got, and with the noteworthy success he has acquired up to this point, it always bothered me that Vibe, XXL, and The Source never…to this day, gave that nigga a cover. never…puzzles me. but anyway, Cole is cold.

one-time for the dirty south, niggas…

  6. Ac@pella! says:

    @soowoop

Until u hear that “great” record, shut tha fuck up. What tha hell have u been listenin’ to???
Anyways, I don’t fuck with tha Source anymore and haven’t bout an issue since 2002 after that Benzino shit, but I’ma have to cop this issue the same day the XXL boy comes out, wait, that IS the same day. Lol! This nigga Cole IS the future of hip hop. He’s the best outta tha young cats now.

  7. Dark NYte says:

WOOO! now this is what iam talking about.

    Indeed, Clap for him!

  8. Iceyjesse says:

@ Acepella I’m sure he means that he hasn’t had a real rotation single but he will get one soon enuf I’m sure of

  9. MithritadesHD says:

awwww, look at the Source trying to get an upfront seat(or as close as they liable to get) on the bandwagon lol

  10. ???? still best rite now!! says:

    @J cole

wtf?? you shoulda left those gloves at home nigga!! lol

but seriously, dude is pretty dope, The Warm Up was a hot ass mixtape…. is it me or that nigga Hov aint promoting u right?? are you opening act for the BP3 tour? Hov doesn’t treat his artist well…he’s out 4self!

  11. So he’s The One, under the Neo act. Biggups on the cover and all, but cats need to stop just going with whatever somebody tells em. That shit is not clever or fresh. Ah well, guess he had no real choice and the blame falls on art director/photog. Shit’s weak.

  12. I Know Music says:

Jay Z is my favorite rapper ever. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I will say he is NOT promoting him properly. Not at all. He was asked what rappers he’s excited about in the future and he didn’t mention J. Cole.

I’m not sure if he’s waiting for the right timing or what. Hopefully he starts putting $$$ behind him cause this dude can really blow up.

  13. Interscope Employee says:

    @ soowoo ; die slow

J.Cole is doing his thing!! 2 crazy mixtapes! 1 guest feature on BP3…and killed it. appeared on Wale’s track and outshined him, some more mixtape cuts like “playground” , “gladiators” with B.O.B, and “Knock on wood”

this nigga is the future, im tellin u

  14. qqq says:

does anybody else think j. cole looks kinda gay and unsure of himself all the time?

  15. devante says:

i think he`s rushin his self in the spotlight to quick, on a mainstream level he`s bearly know

  16. […] J. Cole will be featured on the cover this month’s issue of The Source. This issue hits newsstands on March 16th. Spotted at RapRadar. […]

  17. J.Spfld says:

The question is, Will they ever let his album come out? His Buzz is growing and with all this press he’s been getting they better not miss this shot.

  18. blitz says:

This is just L. Londell Mcmillan huggin up on Jay-Z balls to try and get him to answer his phonecalls, but It’s not happening dunny

    Ha Ha

What happened to the Ludacris cover? Did XXL beat you to the punch? .. Again?

  19. Cola says:

@blitz I agree with the Luda statement. album is out on March 9th and it seems like he has no press coverage on it

  20. Bryce Anderson says:

    Soowoop.

Shut up mayne. you a fucking tard.its obvious you ain’t heard his critically acclaimed mixtape “the warm up” dumb shit.

    So you have no credibility.

  21. Danity Cane says:

Great guy…met him twice…makes great music, getting on covers…I like it.

    #ClapForEm

  22. […] were one of the only sources for hip hop news? As Biggie once said, things done changed. Props to RapRadar for the heads […]

  23. Da Business says:

That’s what’s up, Cole is the truth. The only new nigga I’m checking for. I haven’t pick up a Source mag in a good minute, I ain’t coppin’ it but consider the article read.

  24. That_Josh says:

    J. Cole is more relevant that the source magazine.

  25. blaqscorpio says:

@ ???? still best rite now!! says:

I guess you forgot that he was on the first leg of the tour with Fab and Wale huh? He’s doing his own thing now, promoting underground. And there might be a vid for “A star is born”, so more promo.

  26. jaykobe2224 says:

To all!! Jay is promoting J cole jus fine. He is not tryin to over expose him early but at the sametime he is letting him get a little spotlight.Jay-z is my favorite rapper then fab then j cole. N all im saying is that EVERYONE knows how dope j cole is lyrically but mainstream nowadays isnt based off skill. So jay gotta find a way to promote j cole for his lyrics while also keepin it balanced. Its hard to do both

  27. Let me explain the Source’s mental state. They are jumping onto J.Cole (prematurely I think) just so they can say they had him first before XXL, VIBE or any other competitors.

The Source dropped the ball on Drake and overlooked him. Drake then became bigger than the Source brand and they could not get a cover. They then put out a weak unofficial photoshopped “Young Money” cover with stock photos to try and play catch up. They are trying not to make the same mistake twice. Genius, pure genius…

Keep thinking The Source is trying to save hip-hop, they’re just trying to save their own ass.

Sorry, they haven’t done anything monumental in years.

  28. @jaykobe2224

you hit it right on the head *pause*…jay is thinking like an indie with a crazy budget…an indie doesn’t over saturate the market with useless promo and press. everything is calculated; from mix-tape “leaks” to covers of magazines. You’re trying to get the most out of every dollar and not spend for the sake of spending.

whoever says that jay doesn’t do anything for cole is just simple minded. the fact of the matter is he signed dude to his label, he put him on his album, took him on tour w/ Wale on the first BP3 tour, and orchestrated a number of corporate deals for him all with out having a rotation single on the air. I’d say he’s done enough (up until this point)

if to you, promo and support means that the label needs to be keeping you in diamonds tats and other senseless objects to conform with what society says you should be doing, then my friend i got a bridge in brooklyn that I’d love to sell to you…

  29. t-dub says:

can’t wait for his shit to drop. i know its going to be dope cuz he real silent right now.

  30. okplaya says:

    j. Cole is more relevant than the source magazine! Lmao

  31. Can says:

    @KiD Potential knows what’s up

and so does whoever who clowned those gloves Cole’s got on
