Although Lil Wayne’s currently serving a year long sentence at Rikers Island, Yuma County police in Arizona have issued a bench warrant for the rapper. Weezy was due in court yesterday stemming from his January 2008 arrest where DEA agents found three firearms, $22,000, 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and other illegal narcotics on his tour bus.

This is a classic case of Lil Wayne’s poor choices combined with the state of Arizona exploiting his celebrity. It is not uncommon for a defendant to be expected to appear in one court while incarcerated somewhere else; typically what happens is the court date is reset, or the case dismissed depending on the circumstances. While I do feel he should be held accountable for his actions, I think the Arizona district attorney is attempting to bandwagon the state of New York.

I don’t know about concurrent sentences from 2 different states, but the NYS will run your state time concurrent with fed time, so i’m sure it could of happened state to state as well.
So thats a dumb move….Unless Arizona DA was purpously stalling so that wouldnt happen
