Joell Ortiz Rages Against The Machine

Last night, Joell Ortiz vented about his situation with E1 (Koch Records). To hear him tweet it, the label’s preventing him and his Slaughterhouse brethren from inking a deal with another entity. That’s just shady.

  2. Moose says:

I wonder who’s the other bozo involved from letting the best rap group get their shine? Go SlaughterHouse!!! And I hope it’s not that idiot from Amalgam up in Bean Town

  3. PC says:

Amalgam is holding back the Shady deal also. They don’t want to let go of Joey and E1 doesn’t want to let go of Joell. That’s some bullshit, fuck the industry.

  4. ctg says:

I see that industry rule #4080 is still in effect.

  5. RapMusic23 says:

Fuck,i want them to sign for Shady!

  6. Post no billz says:

Dam industry politics always fuckin the game up.I think some these rappers need to start ruffing up these execs like it was the 90s..(like cube did in beef 2 lol)

  7. Truth_City says:

They gon’ get em’ if he don’t be quiet, watch….

  8. Tego says:

So signing with those crooks at Koch was a bad idea? I can’t believe nobody warned him.

  9. Blakout615 says:

Damn Slaughterhouse cant win without losing. Hopefully they can get this worked out & move on (no pun). If I were Joell, I wud start naming names. Put the pressure on em!

    Peace.

  14. SilkCityP says:

Very unfortunate, yet… this is how the machine was designed from jump… The chances any of us will see the success that artists had 10-15 years ago, is slim to none. You gotta have paper to be able to get what you want in the rap game now. Artists like Joell would be better off, being completely independent, and funding their own distribution than messing around with all this E1, Amalgam Digital BS…. I believe 50 warned niggas about this 2,3 years ago

  15. Theloneus says:

LOL @ Shady Records hint in post. Never liked slaughterhouse. Never will. Don’t really give a fuck is Em’ collaborates with them.

  16. B. Digital says:

    Fuck Koch and Amalgam Digital.

  17. rAND says:

Maybe he needs to fire his manager & lawyer for allowing him to do business with E1

  18. mike says:

    drop the somophore on E1

then THE THIRD ON SHADY RECORDS yall !!!

DROP Free Agent Already, u won’t sell a millie

so take ya indie money wit dis album

    shady/E1 … i do not

    know, just think !!!

    be intelligent

    conscious

    and

damn fuckin’ open to do a good move, boycote a lil bit, do some agreements, then it’s done !

  19. mac DIESEL says:

    @ rAND

QUESTION IS DID HE HAVE HIS TEAM THERE WHEN HE SIGNED THE DEAL!!!! IF ANYTHING, HE SHOULD BE PISSED WIT THEM FOR NOT READIN’ THE “FINE PRINT” IF THEY WAS THERE!!!! THAT “FINE PRINT” ALWAYS FUCKS YA!!!! ONE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  20. King JuggaNott says:

    Read the contract next time.

  21. bgirl says:

    Saddest rapper ever.

    He looks like Eeyore.

  22. Drucifer says:

Tragic, Slaughterhouse on Shady would be incredible for both parties, Give Slaughterhouse a capable mentor and Give Em some Hungry talent to keep him on his toes

  23. Interscope Employee says:

  31. ayoooooooo says:

Fuck Slaughterhouse. All them niggas is washed up and overrated, period. What’s a deal with Shady going to do with their careers? If they can’t drop classics now, they never will. Slaughterhouse has no appeal to be in the mainstream, they can’t sell with their style like this. Royce/Crook are too old and ghetto, Budden is too bipolar, and Ortiz is too fat (naa lol, he got skill). I don’t know why everyone wants them too Shady, like wtf is that going to do?

  32. dev says:

E-1 isnt exactly a top noch label they wanna suck all the money they can out of slaughterhouse while they are hot now. now that their top artist dj khaled has fell off their desperate.

  33. King JuggaNott says:

@ ayooooooooooo In my opinion it’s in hopes that if they get to Shady Eminem will tour and they can be on tour with him. Right now I don’t think many artists are worried about record sales. They want that show money.

  34. MisterUpgrade says:

This definitely boils down to his management and attorney dropping the ball. No matter how dope you are, if your business sense is lacking, your growth (artistically, fiscally), will be stunted.

  35. ROC_NY_2012 says:

After all the shit people give 50 Cent, he warned the whole industry that Koch would do this and it’s Fif that gave Koch the nickname “The Graveyard”. I feel bad for Slaughterhouse because they would do amazing under the Shady label. Guess this is an example for everyone in the industry.

  36. sway-z says:

This is why I can’t stand when niggas get on that “Fuck Puff, Jay they leeches” type of shit, cuz when you try to slide away from a contract with other labels, they ain’t havin it.

All that let the Lox go and Mase running up on Puff in radio stations don’t work with no other labels, you just hate niggas like him, 50 & Jay for being all over the tv all the time but it’s these cold ass white execs you never see who be the worst ones

  37. Drucifer says:

    @ Ayoooo

Slaughterhouse might not be your style but I bet they could at least go gold with Em’s backing

  38. Chipped Tooth Condition says:

Just imagine how much gwop these niggas will get IF they opened for Eminem on a worldwide ARENA tour. Not some small ass clubs down the block.

That’s a big IF tho since Em don’t like touring on a big scale.

  39. melix says:

lol@you guys thinking Em will tour again, Em’s already set for life in money, why does he have to exhaust himself in touring anymore? he always said he wants to spend time with his family, not touring.

  40. P says:

Does anyone else see the irony in 1/2 (Royce &
Ortiz) of Slaughterhouse having already been affliated w/ the Shady/Aftermath camp and now trying to get back under the umbrella? Joe Budden was on a major label too. If these cats couldn’t do it the first time, collectively are they going to be able to have the artistic freedom they’d like & still be able generate the album sales a major label would want this time around?

  41. mike says:

    JOIN VENTURE BITCHES

  42. Yooo says:

@melix you’re a retard if you think Em won’t ever tour again.

  43. YOUAJOKE says:

I AINT A SLAUGHTERHOUSE GROUPIE BUT THESE NIGGAS ARE ONLY A FEW NIGGAS LEFT WHO KEEP IT 100. I DONT WANT TO HEAR NIGGAS LIKE WAYNE, ROSS & GAME MAKING STORYS UP LIKE RAPS A JOKE.

  44. […] RapRadar.com posted several Tweets from Ortiz which were posted by the rapper over the weekend. […]

  45. CaniBlog? says:

Who has done anything great under the Shady label other than 50 and Shady himself?

Slaughterhouse is talented but they offer nothing out of the ordinary (think NWA, ATCQ, OUTKAST) its nothing we haven’t seen before. They are all very lyrical rappers but none of them as an individual or as a group can really change the landscape of hip hop, so why all the excitement for them to sign to Shady?

Maybe I’m not seeing something can someone explain? Give me their side, point of view?

  46. Drucifer says:

    @ Caniblog

I can only speak for myself, but personally I’m excited about it cause I like Slaughterhouse and I like Em so I think the music would be great………….As far as sales and what not, who cares, nobody sells records these days anyway, all the hype around Drake and watch him barely sell platinum……….So, as far as blowing up and all that, this is 2010, everybody steals music these days, thats why cats who are on the radio all day long cant go gold…….

Musically tho, Slaughterhouse + Shady = High hopes
