Kaleidoscope and Wanderland are great albums, although in retrospect that had more to do with The Neptunes’ production than Kelis herself. The current stuff she’s doing is awful.

I wonder if Kelis realized how much dislike she’s built up because of how this Nas situation played out. I used to like Kelis. Her album, Tasty, was very underrated. She had Neptunes, Raphael Saadiq, Andre 3000, Rockwilder doing production. It was dope. But it’s hard for me to root for her knowing how she did Nas dirty..

But still she got quite a female fan base built from this from what i’ve heard, in their opinion she doing the right thing so they rooting for her against nas. We haven’t really got a broad female opinion in all this. I mean guys say she a ho n thats it. It’s interesting to see how much she will sell 1st week if an album is released.
I can’t hate on Kelis lol. I don’t know the details of her situation with NAS but he really effed his situation up. She was a ride or die chick. She ever wore a Nigger T-Shirt with this dude on a red carpet. Who else would do that ish for their dude knowing the backlash it would get. The game of life is set up to take care of women and children. That’s just how this ish works. As far as her music goes, I guess she’s in a world of her own. She’s just abstract and I don’t feel all of it but she resonates with me every once in a while. She would’ve been hell in the disco era. Now that she has those NAS checks, she doesn’t even really need to put out music. It’s what she loves to do. NAS lost one.

She’s working up a great buzz for herself and her music is getting good feedback. She’s too much of a niche artist to ever sell big, but she’s got her audience, which is the most important thing. She’s also smart, she’s never sold huge in the US (outside of the US is a different story, check her stats), but she’s kept herself afloat for over a decade in the music industry. You have to respect her grind, if nothing else.
