@GoofTroopEntertainment, i don’t think many ppl dispute whether the kid can rap or not. Personality works in ya favor or against your…there are rappers with less technical skills but have charisma and magnetic personalities that elevate them above their skill level alone. CH is an example of when your personality detracts from your music.
His fans are mad committed. Hats off to them. For everyone else, he’s the game’s cheddar bob. its askin a lot to get past his antics and persona.

Charles’ artistically fell off after the Hamiltization Process. I fucked with him hard back then…same year I started fucking with Curren$y heavy (2008). But just like Curren$y, Charles exposed himself as a pretty big fake, but his music was stilll good. Until he dropped taht Incubus crap, then he dropped some shit over “Champion” by Kanye which was garbage, and then all of a sudden “This Perfect Life” leaks and it’s AMAZING so he’s back..but when he REALLY comes back it’s with like 2 HOT songs (Charles Hamilton Is Back, Gauchos) and The Binge Vol 3 was basically a dude who likes how he sounds rapping…his metaphors went from cleverly intricate to unnecessarily intricate..like he was trying TOOO hard to remind people he can still rap.
But I enjoyed the 1st Well Isnt This Awkward and part 1 of The L Word was one of the best mixtapes of ’08…so lets see what he got.
PS- Getting punched by a girl is worst than getting punched by a dude NOT solely because of societal pressures but because if a dude hits a girl he goes to jail ALOT MORE LIKELY than if a woman hits a dude and the fact he didnt see it coming was hilarious.

Charles did NOT fall off after the Hamiltonization Process. all that Incubus stuff is DOPE (although, Incubus has been my favorite band for a long time, so I might be biased). The Binge 3 was great, and I don’t think the metaphors were unnecessarily intricate, but very artistic.
And as far as the getting punched by a girl situation… He handled that as well as anyone could have expected. I mean, if he hit her back, people would have been in even more of an uproar than they were. I respect him for how he handled it. Anyway… #Starchasers

I see what you mean on The Binge 3. The “like he was just a guy rapping” point.
Metaphors weren’t over the head, but they were left sitting on the dome, like “Huh…”
I felt the SAME way.
But I think that comes from it being a more personal, self-reflective mixtape. However, I think the mistake was that it was marketed as something more accessible to the public, so I can understand the disappointment from those who may not be familiar with him. I feel that The Binge 3 was a better-than-good mixtape, but it must have been less than so to listeners who have never heard of him, or decided to give him a listen.
Easy to get lost in that mixtape…

I loved “At Most I’m Just” immediately, but I admit that I was undecided for awhile some of the projects from that era you mentioned. (i.e. The Dead Zone, This Perfect 3-Song Mixtape, etc.)
But I remember, this was around time of alot of turbulence.
The label conflicts, the “punch”, the J. Dilla thing…
Things were kinda of sporadic, erratic, and seemingly unplanned.
(But were they?)
Ultimately, I LOVE those projects.
It did take more listens, though.

It was supposed to be the comeback project, as opposed to Normalcy.
