I think it is weird how he did a song with rihanna. I remember once on his radio show, he was on and his daughter called in asking him to play some rihanna and ashlee simpson and em replied something like im on the radio shade45 its hiphop it’s hiphop. Meaning rihanna ain’t anywhere in his radar of what he think’s hiphop is about, he ain’t going to play it. Yet he does a song with her. I just don’t understand how that changed.

That radio show thing is completely right, hip hop stations should play hip hop exclusively. I think you completely misinterpreted his tone as well.
That was also 4 years a go, during a time where he was so deeply into drugs. You can still with his voice pitch and his impatience, that interview reminds of me of his song “Deja vu” from last years Relapse record. That explains everything about what he was going through around that time.
