If yall think success in the rap game is based on skillset yall are sadly mistaken. the most successful people in the rap game currently are all gimmicks, Drake , Wayne Kanye West. The most skilled rappers are grinding it out to sell records, common, RoyceDa5-9 etc. This is a game of perception, promotion and hype. most fans are sheep that follow the crowd and believe the hype . thats why 50 sold so many records on the Massacre. He’s not a bad rapper but the numbers he was pulling was way over the top. The dude is still a better artist than the majority of the current Gimmicks but his stock has fallen so far,even if he makes hits , he will struggle to get play on the radio and move records.
