Anderson Cooper went one on one tonight with Eminem on 60 Minutes. The interview was done last month on the Detroit leg of his and Jay-Z’s “Home And Home” concert. During the interview, Em discusses his writing process, performing, and everything in between. Behind the scenes footage found here.

  3. Drucifer says:

    Interview was basically the same old, same old, but it was pretty cool to see Eminem on 60 minutes…

  4. Belize says:

    EM!!!!!!!!!
    It’s a bit weird, seein all these politic-broadcastin-reporters pretendin to know a whole lot about the rap shit, like on the behind the scenes when Anderson was like “Rap battles…who could diss who better…” Specially when they old n white, just sayin.
    I knew basically everything, but it was interesting to see they all think Em’s lyrics are still all vulgar when really they’ve mellowed out…
    Nonetheless,
    ~Proud EMIN∃M Stan Forever!~

  5. ESCO says:

    Interview was good, a little obvious. Needed more questions about his family but you know Em’s protective of that.

    About all the controversy, I use the last verse from “My dad’s gone crazy” to explain. To me, it’s arguably his best verse ever and when he dies, it should summarize him up.

    My songs can make you cry, take you by surprise
    And at the same time, make you dry your eyes with the same rhyme
    See what you’re seeing is a genius at work
    Which to me isn’t work, so it’s easy to misinterpret it at first,
    Cuz when i speak, it’s tongue in cheek
    I’d yank my fuckin teeth before id ever bite my tongue
    I’d slice my gums, get struck by fuckin’ lightning twice at once
    And die and come back as vanilla ice’s son
    And walk around the rest of my life spit on
    And kicked and hit with shit, every time i sung
    Like R Kelly as soon as “bump n’ grind” comes on
    More pain inside of my brain, than the eyes of a little girl inside of a plane
    Aimed at the World Trade, standin’ on Ronnie’s grave,
    Screaming at the sky, till clouds gather as Clyde Mathers and Bonnie Jade
    And thats pretty much the gist of it,Parents are pissed, but the kids love it
    Nine millimeter, heater stashed, in two-seaters with meat cleavers
    I don’t blame you, i wouldn’t let hailie listen to me neither

  11. Word says:

    I like how he adressed being white in a predominantly black genre. I also liked his response to the haters. He basically said what his fans always say, some of these rappers say the same thing he say. How many rappers, and people for that fact, grew up without a dad? Em talks about it, you call it whining. You say you cant relate? Poor family, single parent home, relatives victim of drug abuse, violence as an outlet? No one relates to that? Jay-Z does…cuz thats exactly how he grew up

  12. Panderson Pooper says:

    this was a bad interview. We know Eminem’s life story. Should have asked some more provocative questions.

  13. Eyerone says:

    this interview proved one thing; recovery should have came out first, then relapse.

    the whole marketing plan should have been reversed.

    they should let the boy nardwuar do an eminem interview. that would be a good watch.

  14. Belize says:

    @Panderson Pooper

    Actually bruh, the “60 Minutes” audience(you know, the old people who tuned in to watch the Nelson Mandela story) probably new little to nothing about his life story,lol……… If this were Rap City and big tigger asked him the same old shit I’d agree with you, but I bet 90% of the 60 minutes viewers learned alot about him from that

  17. Word says:

    @Drucifer

    Didnt even look at it that way, Cosign. Now I understand.

    Right, a lot of out of touch people will feel enlightened but the homophobic stuff about Eminem was covered a million times since the early ’00s. The same lines were quoted by kurt loder or whoever
    “Hate fags, the answers yes”
    The 60 mins piece was mad boring. Cam’ron on 60 minutes > Em on 60 minutes

  20. Drucifer says:

    @ Panderson Pooper

    Well, there have been rumors bout anderson cooper being in the closet for years so I expected that to be brought up at some point, I’ll agree with you there, lol

    neway…there isnt a better rapper alive lyrically. His concepts bring him down under a couple rappers, but wordplay, he’s the GOAT!!

  24. Voodoo says:

    Eminem is Sick, but he’s past 2 albums were fucking lame! Over-Rated as fuck, people say hes the best lyrically, yet he got beat by Rhymefest at Scribblejam! Right now i can tell you Jay Electronica can blast that white boy lyrically! and 2nd of all he didnt put detriot on the map, it was J dilla get yo facts straight

  25. ??? says:

    @Voodoo ask any rap fan who the biggest Detroit rapper is of all time……J dilla??? na i dnt think so its EM whether you like it or not

  26. faber says:

    ^ the fact that he even made 2nd place in the rhymefest ahead of Like 100 black rappers is amazing. I agree he’s overrated but it’s not his fault. It’s his ANNOYING STANS. he is in my top 10 no doubt though.

  27. Truth says:

    Lol gonna sit back and enjoy the Haters vs. The Stans

  28. still best rite now!! says:

    @Voodoo

    gtfoh!! Jay Electronica is nowhere near Em lyrically! Dude just flips big words mostly, Em breaks down compound syllables,double entendres, and rapped circles around Hov. Its taken Electronica decades to drop an official LP for a reason. cuz he aint skilled as other niggas

  36. ELBINO JOE says:

    THIS LETS ME NOW THE WORLD IS RACIST!! WHITE PEOPLE DONT CARE ABOUT HIP HOP ESPECIALLY THE WHITE COMMUNITY WHO WATCES 60MINUTES..BUT PUT EMINEM ON THE SHOW AND NOW HIP HOP IS A GOOD THING!! MUST YOU FORGET THIS IS THE SAME GUY WHO RAPPED ABOUT KILLING HIS MOM AND BABY MOTHER?? THIS IS THE SAME DUDE WHO OVER DOSES ON DRUGS?? THIS IS THE SAME GUY WHO IS ANTI-GAY?? BUT WE ALL MUST OF FORGOT THAT JUST BECAUSE HE SELL’S RECORDS!! AND YES EMINEM IS PROBABLY THE HIGHEST SELING HIP HOP ARTIST IN HISTORY BUT DON’T FORGET THE FACT THAT HE IS WHITE!! NOW DON’T GET ME WRONG HE IS HELLA TALENTED BUT HE IS NOT THE GREATEST EVER! HOW DID HE OUTSELL DRAKE WITH LITTLE TO NO PROMOTION? THE REASON IS THAT WHITE PEOPLE WAKE UP AND SUPPORT THEIR OWN. DRAKE HAD ALL THE HYPE AND PROMOTION IN THE WORLD BUT HASN’T CRACKED 1.5 MILLION YET BUT EMINEM IS ALMOST TRIPPLE PLATINUM!! AND HOW DID THIS ALBUM SELL MORE THAN HIS LAST ALBUM COMING OFF AN SEVEN YEAR BREAK?? EMINEM IS OK BUT WHAT DOES HE REALLY RAP ABOUT?? CAN ANY OF US RELATE?? WELL NON WHITE FANS?? ALL EMINEM RAPS ABOUT IS KILLING HIS MOM,BABY MOTHER,IM NOT AFRAID AND ALL TYPES OF BULLSHIT NOW..HE REALLY SUCKS NOW COMPARED TO THE SLIM SHADY LP AND MARSHALL MATHERS ALBUMS..BUT HEY MAYBE I SEE IT ALL WRONG BUT WHEN ALBUM SEELS ARE LOW EMINEM OUT OF NO WHERE SELLS DAMN NEAR 3 MILLION..CRAZY IF YOU ASK ME!!

  37. Haters are annoying--> Android, Mac Weasel, Lucas and others says:

    @elbino joe.. i agree

  38. r u stupid? says:

    Eminem is a global star, whenever he comes out its always going to be big. he doesn’t need promotion he’s eminem. he’ll sell regardless, wether u love him or hate him youv’e heard of him. stop hating, listen to his catalog, its impossible not to like not one of his songs and be a lil amazed every now and then at some of the wild shit he’s said, and how he’s said it. he’s nasty end of story.

  39. still best rite now!! says:

    @ELBINO JOE

    Em himself said, “if I was black, I would’ve have sold half” so ur whole point is mute…stfu!!

  40. Cronk says:

    @still best rite now!! even if he only sold half of what he has sold, hes still sitting at somewhere between 40-50 millions records and how many people are even fuckin with that lol

  41. zub says:

    Lil wayne 10 mill sold
    Jay z 50 mil sold
    Tupac 80 mil sold
    Eminem 90 mil sold

    ” Men lie, woman lie , numbers don’t”

  42. moby says:

    @elbino joe….

    your are the most stupid motherfucker ive ever read a comment by. how can you sit there and say ”this is the same dude that raps about killing his baby’s mother etc”, then further down your post you claim that everything of Em’s material sucks bar from the SS and MM Lp’s, when in ACTUAL fact, thos were the two albums from which he first introduced the themes/concepts of killing Kim. Stupid ass faggot, last i checked ”Kill You”, ”Kim”, ‘B&C” etc are from the first 2 Lp’s….Lol smh at you you ignorant cunt.

  43. che-el-pibe says:

    ma nigga em man i feel so happy for this nigga…hes one of the best rappers out there

  44. budgefkuhgewf says:

    Anderson “CIA” Cooper would have a lot to say about Marshall “Industry Bitch” Mathers

  45. budgefkuhgewf says:

    So what he’s saying, regarding “Orange” is…. you pronounce something wrong, do a half-rhyme with it, and that’s supposed to be impressive?? LOL

  46. NoWonder says:

    This interview could have kept going for hours.Great interview.Wish i could read all the lyrics he got stashed up in that box in the studio!!!

  47. Mr. West says:

    Marshall Mathers is the man!

  48. Word says:

    @Elbino JOe

    You contradicted yourself SOOOO many times in that post, hes talented but he sucks? He only raps about killing his mom yet you liked SSLP and MMLP? Those themes were most prevalent on THOSE albums. And why dont you comment anywhere else but Eminem post? And lastly, Drake is half white and jewish! Furthermore, he Canadian! White people would FLOCK to this nigga but heres the thing…his album wasnt that good. Thats the key difference, you ask why Em sold more. Cuz his album was better. That, and he has an establised fan base thats gonna gaurantee him platinum on every album no matter what. All your other points arent worth arguing.

    @Truth and Jason, both of you are the same niggas. Its really obvious, why post under different names? Yalll say the same shit. You think niggas is gonna just start arguin and say “hey, jason is right. lets stop this arguing and move on to the next post.” FUCK NO. GTFOH with that lets hold hands bullshit you be on Donn.

    @budgefkuhgewf

    So, your favorite rapper doesnt on occasion pronounce words different to make them rhyme? If Jay or Nas did the same shit (and they do—See JayZ LIGHT UP when he pronounced HOUR like OW just to make it rhyme), yall would be saying GOAT so GTFOH.

    TO ALL U LAMES WHO COMMENTED ON MY POST LET ME REPLY…AS OF NOW EMINEM IS GARBAGE AND HIM BEING ON 60MINUTES IS AN ACT OF RACISM!! WHY OUT OF ALL RAPPERS HE GETS PUT ON 60MINUTES AND NATIONAL BROADCASTED SHOW…WHAT HAS EMINEM DONE TO GET ON THAT STAGE?? WHAT?? HE STOPPOED DOING DRUGS?? HE DONT WANT TO KILL HIS MOM AND BABY MOM ANYMORE?? IS HE PRO GAY NOW?? THE WHITE MEDIA ALLWAYS DOWN TALKS HIP HOP BUT PUT EMINEM ON 60MINUTES TO MAKE HIM SEEM LIKE HE’S AN EXCEPTION TO ALL THE NEGATIVITY…IT LOOKS LIKE RACISM TO ME!!! LIKE HOW YOU WHITE FOLK PAINT JESUS WHITE WHEN HE IS REALLY COLORED..RACISM!! HOW DID RECOVERY SELL MORE THAN RELAPSE?? IF HE HAS A TRUE FOLLOWING WHERE WERE THEY AT WHEN HIS FIRST ALBUM AFTER 5 YEARS DROPPED…BUT HE MAKES AN ALBUM WITH LITTLE TO NO PROMOTION AND OUTSELLS ALL OF HIPHOP?? THAT IM NOT AFRAID SONG IS HORRIBLE AND THE SONG WITH LIL WAYNE IS TRASH…WHERE IS ALL THE HYPE AT?? EMINEM IS ONE OF THE LAST PERSON I WILL PUT ON 60MINUTES..BUT LIKE 2PAC SAID “ITS A WHITE MAN’S WORLD”!!!!

  53. says:

    TH∃ END

    Yes! That’s the perfect title for EMIN∃M’s last masterpiece.

  54. Pauper says:

    any nigga that says em is overrated needs to listen to “infinite”.

  55. Toya says:

    I like that Em is doing more grown up interviews. Sure Jimmy Kimmel and Vibe interviews are cool but an artist has to be interviewed by people that may not be as accepting of their art if they really want to be taken seriously. Sure a lot of the questions were pretty repetitive for fans like who have followed him since “My Name Is…” but the interview was for 60 Minutes whose audience is much older than the age group who mostly listen to rap music. Personally I think Eminem and Anderson Cooper were nicely matched. Both seemed pretty relaxed around each other. Course both seem like pretty laidback people.

  56. Certifiedone. says:

    @ELBINO JOE

    The only reason the white media MIGHT be down on hip hop, is simple because you have dumb niggas going on there like Cam’ron “I wouldn’t snitch if my neighbor was a serial killer” Nigga yes you would, quit lying.

    You know how many rappers have been on 60 minutes? LOADS of ’em, but you put a white rapper on there “it’s racist it’s racist blah blah” You’re a clown. You love Em, and you know it.

  57. Mega says:

    This nigga needs to quit crying about his past and get it in…. My father killed my mother when I was 3 years old and even shot me twice before killing himself. Am I sitting here crying over it? Hell no. I work my ass off and don’t let the past define who I am. Positive motion my niggas.

  58. dainventah says:

    @mega yo dude that is straight fucked up…but you dont think dragging your self out of the gutter situation he was brought up in and selling over 80 million albums worldwide is sitting around “crying” over it and not moving in a positive motion? dude just happens to be famous and you are NOT, so people keep asking him about his life and he is honest enough to answer shyt straight up…nobody even asked you about yours and you just spilled it out on an internet blog…all your points, if we can even call them that, are not very well thought out at all…

  59. Sir Douglas says:

    Hold up I thought J. Dilla was a producer. And how did he put Detroit on the map when most peoe didn’t know who he was until after he died… Smh at y’all that just won’t give Em his props

  60. D-manded says:

    LOL the one thing u can guarantee is life is stan v hater wars on a FUCKING INTERNET BLOG SITE

  61. Mega says:

    My point is that although he is famous- Whenever he is asked about his upbringing, he comes off as looking for sympathy. looking to be coddled by the media, etc.. What he doesn’t seem to recognize that if it wasn’t for all of that adversity, he wouldn’t be who he is today- one of biggest music celebrities the world has ever known. My point was that he should quit whining and moaning to the media how he was beat up, picked on, etc..and instead embrace it as what made him who he is. That interview on 60 Minutes was a regurgitation of 8 Mile…That’s all.

  62. Mega says:

    And with all due respect, I like Eminem and would even put him in the Top 5 of all time,l but I won’t sit here and ride his dick like a lot of you guys do and say that everything the nigga does is worthy of praise.

  63. Jenny says:

    Wow Em is 38.
    Question, has he ever been married?

  64. Drucifer says:

    @ Elbino Joe

    Eminem is garbage now………………. In your meaningless opinion, alot of folks would disagree, live with it……

    Always loved cats on the internet who post 1,000 word essays about why they hate eminem and why you should to………..Dude must really be gettin your goat to care that much

  65. Drucifer says:

    @ Mega

    those are the questions he was asked, whats he suppose to do about that

    Anderson Cooper: “Tell me about your mom marshall”

    Eminem “Well, I’m a pretty big fan of slaughterhouse, we’re working on signing them right now”

    Anderson Cooper :” What was it like growing up poor”

    Eminem “Well, over at shady records we have a new rapper named cashis, his debut should be coming out by the end of the year”

    Anderson cooper : “Was it hard gettin accepted as a white rapper”

    Eminem : ” I would really like to collaborate with Raekwon soon”

    Get the point, lol………. You cant blame a dude for answering the questions he’s asked b, I agree, I’d like to see him asked some new shit too, but how does he control that??

  66. Mega says:

    Before he is even allowed to be asked questions by the media, Anderson Cooper, etc..their questions have to be screened and approved by Eminem’s publicist/management. They could have easily said that they would rather have Eminem asked about where his is now in his career and homelife and where he is going in the future. But they didn’t….instead his people and CNN’s people wanted to focus on the same old story that has been beat into the ground. Defend the interview all you want, I thought it was weak and felt that Eminem really had a chance to give fresh insight to his fans on what lies ahead, not what we already know…i.e. the past. Just my two cents./

  67. Drucifer says:

    @ Mega

    I agree the interview was mediocre, no argument there……… 60 minutes is gonna ask the questions they think people wanna hear, I bet you alot of their viewers ( the people who tuned in for the nelson mandela segment) probably arent very familiar with him to begin with

  68. diego says:

    Hi Eminem my from Spain and sing song of Evil Deeds,Like Toy Soldiers,Not Afraid and +

  69. Bangers N Mash says:

    Eminem is the best of all time.

  70. noah says:

    Anderson cooper ruined a potentially ground breaking interview. we all know that eminem’s mind is as artistic as it is sane. he presents his emotions in a twisted and crazy way only to explore regions of sound and rap rhythms and flows. this just pushes the limits of how much we can take. if we look at his music as a whole we have had the privilege and joy to see one of the greatest artists ever develop his game while dealing with obsticals that he experienced. Many people have had hard lives and they make it to a better life by acquiring a skill and using it to propel you into a better state (dustin braden- grew up in a terrible living situation, pitched a no hitter for the oakland atheletics this season, the movie pursuit of happyness- based on a true story, etc). But no one has exposed his problems with his friends, family, the game of rap, drugs, and of course himself. from infinite to recovery he has broken boundaries and backed all of his claims and scandals with emotion in the form of the hardest, most lyrical, infinite, flow in all of rap.

    So when eminem desides to let someone interview him, ask him personal question, dissect his rap, his past, his future, his shows, family matters, drug abuse, overcoming that, learning how to rap, battles, people who hate on his music, everything you could possibly want to hear from such genius skills and then to have it ruined by anderson cooper. When marshall pulled out those boxes of raps that he had been writing and collecting for years i want to hear him go through that and talk about them. i think those boxes of page after page filled with rythme after rythme were his journals. while andy cooper was thinking of how crazy all those boxes were his mind was probably drifting off to the movie seven with morgan freeman and brad pitt when they’re in the killers apartment and there are piles of journals filled with crazy things. if i were the one interviewing i wouldve treated those boxes like they were a journal that came with all of a journals rules (Rule 1: dont touch or read other peoples journals). I was surprised eminem didn’t freak out when anderson was just touching the boxes and grabbing pages out of it. we can all take a accurate guess that those raps span from when he first started writing/ rapping to present. as far as eminem’s beginning career, cooper barley brushed the surface. imagine seeing eminem a year before he dropped his first cd infinite. what he was thinking at the time, what he was going through, what others around him were doing… but cooper doesn’t understand eminem because he probably hasn’t listened to every cd of his and certainly not every song. If he had, during the the part of the interview where he gets some terrible lyric and have eminem justify it, he would’ve pulled out some lyrics that were way more offensive than the rhythms off of “kill you.” cooper wouldn’t have even done the interview if he had listened to relapse.

    but instead, anderson wanted to interview eminem, not to appreciate eminem, but to snage the fun interview instead of talking about the dow jones or nelson mandela (the stories on 60 minutes before eminem). I can see there being a lot of hype about the interview from a younger audience which dominates tv, radio, trends, and everything else. so golden boy andy (he didn’t even do a good job on katrina) just jumped on it thinking he would have some amazing interview with eminem.

    Of course all true fans of eminem know he is way to deep and complex to have a proper interview in the last quarter of 60 minutes. I read a rolling stone article (magazine is slippn) about eminem and his concert at comerica and that didnt even get into the raw thoughts of eminem. maybe mtv will clean up their act and get back to music. when that happens they should start with a bang, an actual interview with EMINEM

  71. LeftNutOfJeezy says:

    I hear you man… Anderson Cooper looked like he just wanted to blow Eminem’s cock and play with his balls the whole interview.

  72. dainventah says:

    @Mega i agree the interview was a grand dissappointment, but like a few others have mentioned, imo i think it was completely Anderson Coopers fault…that dude is so self important and pretentious that he basically interviewed himself and his own surface knowledge on eminem…he basically spoon fed answers into every question he asked…. was it hard trying to succeed as a white person in a predominantly black culture….look at these pages,, dont they look like something a crazy person would write…..let me read you one of your lyrics about hating gay people (from like ten years ago btw) …do you really hate gays?

    i mean seriously? this doesn’t pass for a good interview with anyone….but especially with eminem because the cat actually is pretty quiet and guarded about whats REALLY goin on in his head…thats the whole fucking reason he makes such personal music…its the only outlet he feels comfortable telling his story…to be honest i havent seen a good sit down interview with EM maybe ever…and its cuz nobody is asking him open ended questions…shyt that nobody has ever asked him before…so when you hear those same regurgitated shyt answers is not becuase he is “whining” or “complaining” he is just giving these assholes exactly what they came there for and NOTHING more…i would do the same shyt if people came with that retread interview shyt for now what is it? more than a decade straight? I mean, after that “tough” question about gays, im suprise he didn’t ask him if he think he might be able to repair his image if he reached out to the gay community, like Elton John for instance….

  73. MUZiK says:

    I always find it interesting to watch the interaction between two media babies,cause at some parts Cooper seemed in awe of Em but Em just seemed like he was tolerating him and bored at times. They love to support their own even though he scares the hell out of them and they hope and pray that their kids,and other relatives don’t turn out like him.
