    @amazinace

    Lu’s a dope lyricist and emcee, but aside from that (this is just IMO)

    to me, Lu makes some of the most well thought out, artful Hip-Hop of the new-school breed of mainstream emcees. he makes conceptual tracks. thats what one thing i always felt separated hiphop from other broader forms of music was that rap songs are really black and white in the way that the rapper says something. i.e. Nas’s “New York State of Mind.” great track, but its black and white in the way that its talking about exactly what its talking about.

    take a song like “the wall” by pink floyd or “kid a” by radiohead, and those tracks are less black and white… they’re conceptual, broad and, depending on who the listener is, can be interpreted differently by each person. Lu makes songs like that IMO which is a feat rarely achieved in rap. Take “The Instrumental” or “Daydreaming” for example.

  21. Hiphop says:

    I’ve stop trying to explain to people why Lupe is one of the most gifted emcees ever. If they can’t tell by listening fuck em. FNF Up!
