Shyheim Speaks On Decoded Mention

On page 39 of Jay-Z’s memoir Decoded, Hov discusses wanting Wu-Tang affiliate Shyheim The Rugged Child for “Coming Of Age” on Reasonable Doubt. The story goes that Shyheim’s team passed on the offer. Guess you got to learn to live with regrets. Anyway, at a bus stop in Staten Island, Shy speaks on his mention in the book. Decoded hits the racks on November 16th.

    He gotta learn.

  2. Niyemortal says:

    Shows that you got to be careful which opportunities you accept or pass on. Who knows what could have happened to shyheim’s career if he accepted

  3. pissed says:

    Damn I never knew that, but whos to know really, reasonable doubt wasn’t really considered “classic” when it came out, that wasn’t until years later. Overall though, Shyheims career at the time wasn’t that bad. Dude was in like 2-3 movies, on a couple TV shows, a TLC video, had some pretty solid albums, and is/was still one of the more known Wu affiliates until he went to jail.

  4. Black Shady says:

    I bet son was like ; hell nah..who the fuck is that Jay we talkin bout
    now its a different story LOL

  5. Curtis75Black says:

    @Pissed,
    Most definitely co-sign !! I never really like that track anyway. I deleted that song off the IPhone. Bleek came off too ass kissy for my taste for the way he was portraying himself on the song. 1st impressions are a bitch in Hip Hop. From there on he remained on the nuts of Jay.

  6. monte ellis says:

    @curtis75black

    jay wrote that shit for bleek. bleek mentioned this in the xxl mag when 534 came out. he said that was the only rap jay wrote for him.

  7. isis says:

    Jay prolly wrote the record and tweaked it for Bleek but I do think he tried to get Shy on it. But Shyheim may live a lil from this moment b/c I had forgotten about him for a minute. This Shyheim & Lil Vicious was my joint when I was super young. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stqHVLVXigU

    PS Didn’t Vicious go to jail too?

  8. that dude crossing the street looked and sounded like he just woke up from 1995

    Ha!…ya heard?!

  10. Shawn says:

    Easy to have hindsight now but.. It’s not like Bleeks career was anything major and surly his career had little to do with this record.
    The Jay then isn’t the Jay now.. No one would have known.

  11. Curtis75Black says:

    @Monte, I know he did. But if that was me, it would’ve been tweaked a lil so I don’t sound like I’m on the next mans jock. I’m not rolling with any drug dealer/kingpin for free !!

  12. BEN10 says:

    AH MAN……….THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER FIT ….DAMN SHY U DROP THE BALL ON THAT ONE ……..BLEEK WASNT EVEN SPITTING THAT SHIT RIGHT …. JAY HAD A CRAZY VISION FOR THAT RECORD

  13. CEOREALTALK says:

  18. Reasy F. says:

    I remember Jay-Z saying that when Shyheim passed on it, he got Bleek on the track and gave him specific instructions on how to spit the track.

    The rest is history.

  19. SOSOCHI says:
