    Legendary quote:

    “I’m a part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful…and I believe in selling $4000 leather camo vests to the peo-ple”

  5. Jud says:

    Its crazy when i see black people come out against Obama like he is the problem…crabs in a bucket..I was taught never to talk about home away from home..especially when home is not the problem..Lupe and Dyson are smart enough to know that all politics are local and that we have to get small in order to get big..instead of making our people reject Obama who has no power over our local and state policies, teach them that we need to hold our city and state reps accountable for what goes on in our communities. Obama cant change the school system is our cities and states. He cant tell governors how to use federal tax money. Lupe fans marched to get his Lazers album released but anything to due with real issues(Privatization of prisons, schools in our neighborhoods, social programs that handicap us and not help us…..) African Americans sit it out. Obama cant put on that black glove and say “fight the power” like they want him to. If he does he will be doing just what the racist want and what white america fears. The FIRST BLACK FAMILY has let the world know that not all black men speak ebonics and sag their pants. That black me are powerful. That we take care of our family. The black women isnt an angry gold-diggin whore. Our black daughters arent pregnant and on drugs. WE MUST SUPPORT PRESIDENT OBAMA. He has opened the door for us!!! Complain about the ones who are too afraid to walk through it.

    “…now go buy my album”

  9. illantic says:

    It wasn’t a promo it was a symposium on the future of hiphop. He recited the verse because it pertained to his viewpoint on certain political figures in America.

  10. SOSOCHI says:

    Smashin all you haters.

  11. Nathaniel says:

    @Jud

    news flash, any black man/black family that doesn’t fit the stereotype is always looked at as an exception to the masses of black people. he hasn’t showed the world shit they wouldn’t know if they didn’t see black people as an inferior race.

    you can’ say “obama has no power” and then simultaneously credit him with changing the image of a people he doesn’t politically associate with. he isn’t OUR president… and yes, he’s a black man. he’s America’s president. and america is just as anti-black in 2010 (with a black president) as it was in 1862 when Fredrick Douglass was meeting Abraham Lincoln for tea and crumpets in the white house. in 1903 while WEB DuBois was being called the most brilliant mind in America for Souls of Black Folk, WITH his PHD from (racist-ass) Harvard University.

    moral of my story, and probably a part of Lupe’s is: tokenism will never lift the condition of the people, the consciousness of the people (white or black), nor will it develop THE PEOPLE. it’s only good for the individual.

    black or white. the president of america is not concerned with what’s best, or what privileges are MOST DUE black so-called Americans. so-called. we ain’t americans… we just live here. and yes, it does start in the community… that’s why lupe makes rap music and he ain’t don lemon on cnn. peace

  12. Nathaniel says:

    you CANT say “obama has no power”, etc etc* (typo)

  13. Disagreeing with the “politics” on principle does not make you a crab in the bucket. We must ALL remember that Obama is a Politician. He’s not Black Jesus. No one is attacking how strong of a Black man he is; or whether he loves his wife; or whether they are raising their daughters properly. You can be critical of policy and opinion without disrespecting his family. Actually, not having a critical eye on his “job” as president is disrespectful to his family and his legacy as The First Black President. It just means you are blinding following a man because of common traits you share…not based on his ability to lead our country and prove to the world we are a free and compassionate people.

    Don’t call it hatin’ because you don’t speak the language of the conversation.

  14. Pat says:

    He made fun of Drake =[

  15. JORDAN says:

    Ok the problem in the Gaza strip is so much more complicated then just one side bombing the other. Israel has been opressed by terror from the Gaza strip for years. Im not saying its right but it can be justified. The atrocities against the Israelies and Palestinians are quite equal and im sure soon our t.v.’s will be highlighting a terror attack from the Gaza strip on all our news stations.

  16. Jud says:

    @Nathaniel
    First off I said Obama has no power over our local and state policies. Which he doesn’t, and if you think he does you might have to take a civics class. Second, u think that Obama doesnt politically associate himself with black people??? So i guss most black people are republicans..I guess u just wanted to argue with me because your points dont make any sense..when Bill Clinton was president black people went crazy over him as he came on our black talk shows playing his saxaphone pretending that he didn’t inhale..he was a TOKEN..when lupe openly says he didnt vote for Obama that means he voted for mccain or he didnt vote at all neither of which is benificial to OUR people..and stop talking that we are not americans, u talking that talk now but u wouldnt rather be anywhere else in the world..and no lupe isnt don lemon but he is very educated and if he choses to rap about politics I expect him to be responsible with his words..if he wants to go against the system im all for that, but why single out the one black man that our fatherless young brothers can look up to as a positive role model. They get to wake up and see that a black man is the leader of the free world. Black men and women died so lupe could vote..and he out here talking bout thats why i didnt..THATS BULLSHIT

  17. Jud says:

    @Jordan
    I bet u still believe in santa claus too

  18. Viscerous_Thought says:

    GLOAT! Man Lupe is just telling the truth. If we Blacks didn’t have this problem of hatin’ on each other this wouldn’t be a problem that Lupe said it. Lupe is just giving his opinion, and HE DOESN’T VOTE ANYWAY, so he didn’t vote for Obama. And to be honest, maybe Obama doesn’t control the local/state governments, it is his job to see that those issues and problems you talked about (education, etc.) get fixed. Just quit arguing man and enjoy the verse!

  19. Envision says:

    Lupe killin’ it!

  20. Eyerone says:

    @nathaniel & @jud, im glad lupe wrote this verse so that you guys can even engage in conversation like you are.

  21. Jud says:

    @Viscerous
    If you dont VOTE you cant complain…and dont talk trash and then say quit arguing

  22. Jud says:

    @black panther
    You damn right!!!

  23. jr says:
