Hard work pays off. And after six weeks, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday, has clocked a million units. Salute. Salute. She also becomes the first New York rapper since Lloyd Banks to go platinum with a debut album.

Lets see what sales on her 3rd album look like. She’s probably going to end up making a song with Lil Kim for the first single.
The album is actually pretty good, nice beats, nicki stays entertaining on the verses…hope she has many more to come…..

Crazy, Fake Wigs, Crazy ass voice inflections and facial expressions, with poppy beats and symbolizing a Sexy Barbie that men drool over because of her voluptuous shape and ass pads make her body look superb.
Out of the last sentence I just put…none of that reflects her MUSIC, it’s just reflecting her IMAGE. People dig her because of her IMAGE. Don’t get me wrong, her cut, “Moment for Life” was cool…

bryce – does it have rhymes over beats? it’s a hip hop album. helluva lot of pop influence, but it’s a hip hop album. if YOU trace hip hop back to the 80’s, you’ll see that there was a lot of costumes and theatrics involved. also, a lot of the best emcees got crazy voice inflections and facial expressions. and i don’t know if you’re familiar with ll cool j or big daddy kane.. but they did the sex symbol thing too. bottom line though, she got bars and its a shame you can’t hear them.
congrats to nicki, but i do wish it was because the album was just THAT good and not because she had all that crazy fan support. still, respect her for opening up lanes for female rappers and i hope she balances it out a bit more on the sophomore joint.

Ye said it best, “Is hip hop just a euphemism for a new religion?” Hip hop has changed, if your a underground artist or lover of underground music and your favorite artists are people like French Montana, Black Sheep, Ras Kas, etc. then don’t judge mainstream artists. Ya his numbers dropped around Christmas time cause he had no radio spins and he didn’t do ONE thing of promotion after his album dropped, so than Nicki almost caught up, but Ye still has the lead by like 30k copies. And Nicki’s been EVERYWHERE promoting since her album dropped, Ye hasn’t done a damn thing since his record dropped. Nigga doesn’t even tweet anymore. But after Christmas was over Ye caught up and he was top 5 again, only 2k behind Nicki, with no promo. He’ll have longer lasting power, and AOTL is blowing up on radio right now. Nigga is gonna have amazing consistency when he starts promo for WTT too. Easily second highest selling rap album of the year. He’s already number 2 in worldwide sales for Rap.

Nicki shipped a million records. Once you ship them out, you can pay for the certification. Kanye hasn’t even payed for a Gold certification yet. Eminem is notorious for that. Eminem’s albums are diamond but he hasn’t paid for the certification.
