With the Spring 2011 semester beginning today at Rice University, Bun B called the Madd Hatta Morning Show on 97.9 The Box in Houston and spoke on teaching his Spirituality and Hip Hop course. Below is the required reading for the class. We see you, Decoded.

Shout out to Tricia Rose’s two publications being a part of the curriculum. She came up here to Minnesota to speak a few years ago at a college and I was very inspired. She’s inspired me to get into hip-hop journalism. If you’re a true fan of the culture and care about reading about hip-hop music and African-American culture’s position within it, etc, you should really read those books.
Also, look up Tricia Rose . A very educated individual who cares about the music and art form on a literary level…
