Got to admit never heard Nicki’s album. I just don’t understand how people are buying into-or being fooled-that she is categorized as rap. I read someone comment on here that state something to the effect of “Nicki mad us thought we were buying a rap album.” She sings in 9 out of 10 songs…..I don’t know about all you other dudes on here but I never played with a Barbie growing up. The comparisons to Lil’ Kim is pointless, Kim dressed but she spat them lyrics with fire-written or not-it was RAP.

I think Drizzy and Nicki’s biggest mistake was being that they’re the next “leaders” for this hip-hop shit, they didn’t represent hip-hop atl all with their debut albums. I been following drake since 06 out here in Toronto, dude can fucking rap. Dude was a straight backpacking, J. Dilla/9th wonder beat type connoisseur. I dont have to say shit bout Nicki, but you already know she can rap, if you dont you’re stupid.
My problem is, Jay can do whatever the fuck he wants, so can KanYe and Nas and anybody, because when we look back at that first and oh so important album of their its a hip-hop classic. You gotta cement your position in the world of rap before you do it in the world of POP. Drake went with some kind of R&B/Smooth/Alternative music, and Nicki went for straight bubblegum pop music. I feel like they coulda at least had a better balance of hip-hop and whatever new shit they wanted to do.

I still think as long as drake does his thing in the years to come TML can go down as a classic, Pink Friday not so much. Nicki needs to cut the Big Sean Supa Dupa flow metaphors… for real cut it out… split ends.
