Whoa! A month before it hits newsstands, eighty8clothing got a hold of XXL‘s 2011 freshman class. Here’s a roll call from the top. Starting at the the left: Lil Twist, CyHi Da Prynce, Big K.R.I.T., Meek Mill, Diggy Simmons, Kendrick Lamar, Yelawolf, Fred The Godson, Mac Miller, Lil B, and YG.

Here’s what we have to think about with this cover, thus far since XXL devoted its freshmen
announcement without a doubt there are some that disappear from the lime light. I won’t say who I
believe will disappear, but I will say this only 3, at the most, will be even mentioned of in 12 months.
It’s just the facts. We can all sit here and question, who’s a hot rapper, who’s not. That’s what XXL
wants, they want us to disagree with each other. Which, in my opinion, shows how the decision to
come up with the new Freshmen will no longer have any type of integrity instead of thinking the
cover through they will become more and more controversial.
We all are going to have our opinion of who should or shouldn’t be on the list, no argument there.
Hip-hop has taken a different turn, we all can agree with that. But, if is truly about being LYRICAL
Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) from Cleveland would’ve been on that cover. And I am not even from
Cleveland, OH, I just heard a few raps from the guy and a couple of interviews and think he’s lyrical.
Let’s talk about LYRICS, not HYPE don’t just type who you think should be on the list concentrate
on their lyrical ability, in other words you want to see them around for a few years.
Enough said. This my opinion, you are free to disagree, respectfully.

YG and Lil B are the worst of the group. Lil Twist has improved, but still has to earn his stripes. Mac Miller and Big K.R.I.T. are the best hands down. Khleo, XV, and Jay Electronica should have been on there.
