It pains me to say this, but Coach K, you the illest. My hate for Duke can possibly stem from my love for MJ. Growing up watching the Bulls and hearing that “from North Carolina…”right before he stepped on the court kinda made me like the Tarheels and quite naturally dislike Duke. I was also a fan of the Fab Five and Duke owned them in the 90s so that did nothing but add fuel to the fire.

As a youth I did view players on the Duke teams as Uncle Toms and spoiled white kids because I thought that’s what you had to be to even be admitted to that school. Those foolish views also swayed my opinion. Players like Grant Hill are great role models in the black community but I admit I didn’t like him until draft day. He represented everything that niggaz in my community wish they were deep down inside, black, educated and from a stable household.

It’s crazy how we as blacks attack our own for elevating themselves above expectations. My bad Grant, you that nigga and u can still hoop. With that said, I still don’t like Duke, but I respect them and I respect you Coach K. I even bought your video game on Sega back in the day.

You came into the season 8 wins behind Adolph Rupp, 11 wins behind Dean Smith and 34 wins shy of the great Bob Knight. Michigan just let you off the hook and gave you your 900th win continuing to royally fuck my bracket. Three more wins and you’ll pass Bobby and be in position to win your 5th national title. So here’s to you Coach K, you deserve it. It seems like you run a clean program that doesn’t produce fuck-ups (well except Jay Williams, that dumb ass motorcycle accident cost my Bulls a draft pick), and you win. Can’t hate on that.
