Welp, it’s been real. After six years of using Auto-Tuning, T-Pain tells AHH that as of today, he’s no longer going to use the technology.
“I vow right here, right now, to never use Auto-Tune again. I’m onto something that I think is bigger and better called ‘The T-Pain Effect.'”

I never had a problem with T pain using auto tune coz most of his songs were at least listenable , the problem came when ron browz et al started running it into the ground

Auto Tune will never go away. ITs a pitch correcting plug in. EVERY singer uses it. Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Rihanna, EVERYBODY. Engineers use it to make sure everything is on key when mixing the vocals. It was T-Pain who chose to turn up the effect and make that robotic voice sound noticable.
I don’t mind auto tune if it makes sense in the song and doesnt’ take away from the music. Do You T-Pain!!!

He obviously has partnered up with a company to create his own software to make money off of. Similar to the T-Pain app that’s on the iPhone
And as others have said, he can actually sing fine without Auto Tune. He’s also a great producer too so his career would be fine without it….But that’s his trademark at this point so he’s gonna stick with the same sound and just brand the effect as his own since he’s already made Antares (the company that makes AutoTune) a shitload of money without getting anything in return

he can’t sing for shit without autotune. If you know what auto tune is and how it works…the worse you sing the more the vocoder w/e pitch correction effect takes in place…T-Pain’s pitch correction takes effect the whole time he sings and you can tell when the pitch is corrected. When Akon uses auto-tune it sounds different then Pain cuz he can actually sing. Have you heard T-Pain talk. He sounds like a black Forrest Gump #Real Talk.
Also I think he’s gonna create his own VST/RTAS plug in which will probably be more user friendly then Auto-Tune. I hate using Auto-Tune when I record cats who want to use it. Its a PAIN in the ass to set up and tweek with.
