HTC Partners With Beats By Dre

Smartphone maker HTC is set to acquire a majority stake (51%) in Beats Electronics, LLC for $300 million. As part of the deal, HTC plans on improving the sound quality and incorporating Beats technology to their mobile devices. In addition, Beats will continue its relationships with Chrysler Group and Monster Cable Products.

“The marriage of these two companies is very, very good. We are very good for each other,” says Jimmy Iovine, the chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records and co-founder of Beats By Dr. Dre with rapper/producer Dr. Dre. “With HTC’s innovation, technology and leadership, we feel we can really compete with anybody in this area.”

    I think this is a great move, what better way to get into the mobile device market and snag a significant portion of the market while gettin a fat ass check and major financial support all at the same time.

    There is no one i repeat no one who has profited more from hip hop than Jimmy Iovine .I hope Dre owns a big chunk of Beats , i doubt it tho i would be surprised if he owns more than 10 percent .Its really amazing how much money has been generated for interscope by Dre , we’re talking billions here . Lets not forget Interscope was basically dead before Deathrow , now that i think about it Dre has basically been pimped out his whole career . First Easy & heller, then Suge & now Jimmy

    The Evo is dope as hell, but the mp3 player on the device can’t compete with the iPhone. I was pissed the first time I tried to listen to music on the Evo, because the volume is super low. Dope move for HTC.
