Lupe doesn’t have a classic album. Only his fans believe that, just like how Budden fans think all the MM mixtapes are classics. They don’t have the impact/influence. They are nothing special, they’re just good (and pretentious) albums.
They will never be in the same vein as Illmatic, Ready to Die, Reasonable Doubt, or MMLP.

Lupe was one of the few mc’s that put out good music in the dark ages of hip-hop 2006-2008. The thing that hurting him is he don’t have a ganster pesona or club song which is sad that u have to have that to be consider the best. Lil’ Wayne is ABC lyrist fucking wack. Drake is good but needs a classic album. Right now Kanye is best and he is sitting comfortable in the throne. J. Cole will be next up for the throne unless Drake comes with something unexpected but hip-hop is getting better.

All I say to these people is that if you have any doubts, go back and listen PROPERLY to Food and Liquor and The Cool and then you’ll realise that not many can get with Lupe lyrically, and for the record… Words I Never Said is better is by far the best song lyrically to drop this year and it tops than anything Wayne and Drake have put out lyrically too. Word.
The Cool and Food and Liquor are light years ahead of anything Wayne and Drake have put out, they wouldn’t stand a chance if they got into a lyrical battle with Lupe. Words I Never Said is by far the best song released this year and Dumb It Down is easily top 10 songs lyrically the last 10 years.

Lupe is hands down the best rapper i’ve ever heard, whether its wordplay (Dumb it Down, Champ Is Here, Failure) or flow (Lupe Myself, F-N-F Goin’ Up, The Run Down) or absurdly complicated (Switch, Twilight Zone, Mean and Vicious). Lupe’s lyrics are full of double sometimes triple entendres that go WAY over peoples heads.
Ever criteria you use to measure a rapper’s greatness, Lupe demonates them all, at will. Very ahead of his time, if you don’t agree you havent heard the songs ive listed.
