Tyler, The Creator and Jasper were the latest guests on Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg’s Juan Epstein podcast. Check the recap below.
Tyler the Creator and Jasper Dolphin from Odd Future were in town so they came by to do the show and while they were here we just kicked it for a while. Among other things–this includes Neptunes trivia for Tyler, Ciph and Tyler making fun of each other, and Tyler growling at strangers. They’re popular because they have a very distinct image and point of view. Listen to a song like Nightmare or even the third verse of Yonkers (it’s not found on the music video version of the song) and you’ll see he’s actually more self-aware and honest than a lot of his elder rappers. Just because you can’t relate to their music that doesn’t mean they’re garbage. Not every rapper has to be a black panther or a drug dealer.
