lyrically… cole bullshitting. all the rhymes i’ve heard for this album so far are simple. reminds me of that ludacris ft. mary j. blige song “runaway” …content is there, but overall the song is sub par. it’s STILL music. can’t just have subject matter with *yawn* worthy songs.
rap-wise, this joint barely has 2 verses. he singing through half the shit +bridges + hooks all sung.
actually this is one of my favorite tracks for the album…but i got the overall same reaction after the first few spins, it felt like another mixtape of his. I think Drake & Cole shouldve taken each others approach to their debuts. J Cole was the one who shoulda came fresh with all new music & left the leak and other tracks out, while Drizzy had the buzz with his hits that didnt make Thank me Later
