  2. matt says:

so she has a problem with the n-word but not when common talks about thick bitches in the song.

This is not cool. Out of respect for the movement Com should have been a bit more mindful of the lyrics… especially after having her agree to work with him. Durn, will we as a people ever “get it together”? I dont know.

  10. ppppp says:

shut up you stupid old nigger

  11. Neologian says:

Words are just words… why does she think it matters? Thought she’d be smarter than that

  12. MusicMajor says:

I fear that a lot of the ppl posting on here arent familiar with Common, his body of work or his place in hip hop. Its funny to me that Maya says she has never heard him say n***a, she obviously needed to familiarize herself with his work before doing a song with him. When Kanye did “school spirit” Aretha Franklin specified that she wanted no foul language which is why thats the only song on the album with no cursing. Theres no reason why she couldnt have done the same. Its easy to complain after the paychecks been cashed.

  13. Loaded says:

    shut the fuck uo no1

  14. Loaded says:

i can’t wait till am her age and i tell my white grandkids about the n-word and they say “nigga please”

  15. Tucq says:

When I first saw the tracklist 2 Common’s album a couple of weeks back, I knew Maya would have an issue with the song after her’s being “GHETTO DREAMS”. The first verse has “I want a bitch that look good and cook good….. butt nekkid in the kitchen flippin pancakes”

I love that damn song, but I knew Maya wouldn’t like that shit at all.

  16. Tucq says:

i wonder if she’ll try 2 sue, like rosa parks did outkast

  17. Kemosabi says:

Kids on this shit right? Disrespecting Maya Angelou you must be crazy. I like Com to but you don’t get the privilege of having her on a track and nigga it up, I’m sorry. I’m sure he is telling the truth and had a plan for that but you don’t do that with Maya Angelou. You gotta be smarter Common

  18. Bong says:

    Kemosabi

No disrespect to Maya, but wasn’t it her responsibility to know who she was working with? He uses the word in damn near all of his songs and in personal communication. She should’ve said something beforehand.

  19. Dr. Dre's Ass says:

    Common Is a Idiot.
He Shouldn’t Cuss In He’s Raps.
I HIGHLY Doubt Any Teens Fuck With Him.

Bob: Here The New Common Album?

  22. Y U MAD says:

  23. WOWWAKEUPFOOL says:

  24. G.O.O.D Music CEO Kanye says:

Fuck Common we ain’t giving this nigga album no promotion. Big Sean Finally Famous gonna sell more than you. haaaaaannnnnnnnnnnn

  25. MegaMan says:

Fuck Common! I hate this old ass nigga, he needs to retire already. His debut album Go flopped. Maya Angelou should work with Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki, Ricky Ross or Mac Miller.

  26. Phenomboy says:

    Generation gap homies

Maya is old enough to having be living in a world where the N-word was used in it’s first meaning and borrowed slavery & segregation background…when people were burnt by a crowd screaming that word…so don’t be rude

  27. MusicMajor says:

I never knew Common released an album titled “Go” I was pretty sure that was a single from “Be” which still wasn’t his debut, but there again is that generation gap lol.

  28. MegaMan says:

Common’s debut album released in 2005, went double Wood. Kanye West couldn’t save the album.

  29. Pete says:

    @MegaMan
Common’s debut was released in 1992 and called Can I Borrow a Dollar? He released five albums before the one Kanye produced in 2005.

  30. MegaMan says:

    @ Pete

You are right, I just checked it on Wikipedia.

    Can I Borrow a Dollar? (1992) – U.S.:

  31. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

SMH@”Maya Angelou should work with Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki, Ricky Ross or Mac Miller.”…idiocy of the highest order ONLY from megaman. Maya Angelou is a living legend. But she should’ve double checked that poem before reciting to a audience.

  32. Hudes says:

You guys suck in reality. Common said

” she knows I use that word. She knows it’s a part of me.” then he says what you guys wrote

Wow this site is pissing me off lately

Fuck this bitch she not Harriet Tubman. Wow Common said the word nigga, bitch didn’t you grow up in the civil rights movement I think you will be all right. Didn’t the White House not want to let Common recite a poem because the he use perfanity in his muisc? When Obama is a well none dope head and he admited to snorting when he was at Harvard. Michelle Obama tells kids to be heathly when he husband smokes a pack of cancers stick a day.

  46. Jimster says:

It’s a sad day when IGNORANT posters on RapRadar try to down Maya. Common, btw, should have known that she would not be down with the N-Word and could have easily replaced the word with something else. There is no justification for this.

  47. Kaashi says:

God…reading the ignorent comments here made me sad as shit. Listen to this album. One fo the best this year.

I agree with music major , with all her due respect our elderly lady clearly is not a common fan , because common uses Nigger a lot in his lyrics , like a real lot all be it he has more content than the average rapper ….this is confusing she probably just knows him in person as a sweet guy , if she really knew his music she would not say she never heard him use Nigga ….
