1) Drake – Album sales, features, tour, impact
2) Kanye – 2 Albums, movie accompanying solo album, tour, impact
3) Jay-Z – Album, tour, impact <== His impact is still greater than anyone else on this list – The craziness surrounding his babies birth has more impact than some of the rest of this list alone
4) Ross – Mogul moves, compilation album, mixtapes, impact, features
5) Wayne – Sales (although I don't really believe them), Album was underwhelming a bunch of rehash beats and weak lyrics, Mogul Moves, Impact <== Carter 1-3 made me a believer I now don't know what to think since he's sober.
6) Nicki – Sales, Impact <== If you can get some of the other hottest acts in other genres doing youtube's singing your records you have impact (i.e. Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift doing Super Bass)
7) Wale – #NoDaysOff & #Ambition literally (2 mixtapes, solid album, compilation album, freestyles, mini mogul moves with BOA), ubiquitous singles all year – it was a straight hustle game
8) Cole – More albums sold than Wale, Sean or Khalifa although they had bigger singles and more singles. Still under the radar in comparison to those 3 but their fans didn't go to the store and cop 2-5 copies apiece in a recession to assure he won. Grind Game + Friday Night Lights and winning with Underdog status
9) Sean – Big singles, didn't quite pan out in album sales but his impact with the singles and features is undeniable and the album was solid
10) Wiz – Sales wise I believe he's behind the 3 I put on the list above him but he's relevant although I think it's more for Amber at this point than any music he's dropping, mini mogul moves with Juicy J signing, movie/movie soundtrack, album is not my favorite and he admits it wasn't his normal effort but it had an impact if for nothing else Black and Yellow
I can't give you a spot if you didn't drop an album so Meek Mill and 2Chainz can't get a spot in my opinion but they are picking up crazy momentum for next year if they can drop something solid in 2012.
