    Aside from Magic having a Magic Johnson Theater in Harlem, what is “hip-hop” about this post? Ahhh, Jay-Z must be a member of the ownership group as well. #gotcha

  2. Smove says:

    Magic owns the Lakers as much as Jay-Z owns the Nets lol………They dont own anything fully They bought in on the sale. So he in all actually didnt “buy” the Lakers he bought a piece of the Lakers.

  3. Sincere says:

  5. loch121 says:

    It’s not about hip hop, but it is about sports and a black man doing something amazing.Sports and hip hop are talked about in the same circles.Magic has always been important to the urban community so it makes since to write about this.It’s big.Congrats

  6. Peekay says:

    ha B. Dot. Used to manage Ma$e and used to own a record label? Irrelevant. But, rather read this than see another Soulja Boy post.
    What’s Wala anyway? Is that like Voila?

  7. Get Real says:

    @B.Dot

    So Magic owning a little known record label and managing a beyond his prime/relevancy artist makes this post hip-hop related? Really? How weak is that argument? At least w/ the Mayweather posts it makes sense b/c he’s in the hip-hop spotlight by association and through his actions but Magic Johnson is not.

    I mean where’s MJ’s post for when he became the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats & first black majority owner in the NBA? We all know MJ is more steeped in hip-hop from a cultural standpoint than Magic but the last post Air Jordan got on this site was in 2010. And in MJ’s case HE’S ACTUALLY RUNNING THE TEAM whereas Magic will just on the board of directors while Mike Walter becomes the controlling owner of the Dodgers. So stop the bullshit B.Dot, you out here looking foolish son.

  8. B.Dot says:

    @Get Real @Peekay

    Used to manage Ma$e and used to own a record label? Irrelevant.

    That’s irrelevant? On a rap blog. Riiight. MLB has deep rooted racial history. In addition it’s the biggest purchase in sports history. Stop it.

  9. Get Real says:

    @B.Dot

    Every sports league on this planet is steeped in racist/sexiest lore. Michael Jordan is the standard of greatness in LIFE based on his career accomplishments. Rappers/entertainers/regular ppl often refer to themselves as the “Mike Jordan” of whatever it is they do in order to reiterate how great they are or want be at their task/craft. Yet when Michael buys majority ownership from Mr. BET in Rob Johnson it goes UNNOTICED on this blog. While Magic gets shine b/c he “leads” (which is absolutely false b/c if he led the ownership group he’d be the controlling owner and not Mike Walter) a group of ppl who made a significant purchase but in the end will sit on the executive board of the team.

    I imagine this is the journalistic dichotomy of the blogosphere ppl always complain about.

  10. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

    Magic Johnson is a BOSS !

  11. Your mother's "friend" says:

    SMH Niggas love to complain Magic just made history & all you clowns can say this isn’t hip hop ?? you must be white

  12. Kemosabi says:

    Lol what is anyone arguing about? Like dude said it really isn’t that long ago Jackie Robinson was changing in his own locker room being spit on by visiting fans and let’s not forget a Negro league where if it weren’t for racism Stachell would be known as the greatest pitcher of all time. Magic Johnson went from a death sentence 20 years ago to being one of the biggest business men in America. Black or white. It’s hip hop.

  22. Peekay says:

    Kemosabi, word to the Jays! Hope they translate the preseason success into the regular season.

    B. Dot, not saying Magic’s irrelevant but the fact he used to manage Ma$e and owned a record label is a weak defence. Basketball’s hip-hop.

    Doesn’t matter anyway, but glad to see you deleted ‘Wala.’ I’d be happy to edit posts for RapRadar.

  23. Word says:

    Whether its Hip Hop or not, whats the complaint for? Imean..you seem to know enough about sports to know this is important in Sports history because theres majority owner in MLB and Magic would be first (if its true hes in the lead).
