It is a #1 debut and those are solid numbers, so that isn’t a flop really. Her debut album did drop during the week of Black Friday so that sales boost wasn’t at her disposal this time around. However, she did release “Super Bass” after Pink Friday dropped which was the biggest hit of her career so far, and would’ve theoretically increased her fanbase. She’s appeared at the Superbowl, The Grammies, Did countless interviews, 106 & Park, etc. her promo was crazy. The radio is pushing her singles heavily AF right now. Plus Nicki herself said so confidently “This album is going to sale so much more than my first album” and it really didn’t. Guess it goes to show, radio play and over-saturation doesn’t always equal large sales, it takes a loyal fanbase and quality music. The pop crowd she attracts aren’t loyal fanbases like the ones artist like Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye, & Drake have, so she can’t match up to them as far as sales go.

These are actually pretty good numbers considering the state of Hip-Hop, the recording industry, and piracy! AND ALSO MUCH MORE ACCURATE AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND UNLIKE LIL WAYNE’S OR DRAKE’S FIRST WEEK SALES! But on the other hand there was MUCH hype and promotion behind this album which made me to suspect she’d sell more…

I’m not to stating that this album is a classic(have not listened to the second half yet lol.) I’m bringing reason to this convo. 250k is not a flop or anything to laugh at. The end.
There is no competition in the Hip Hop genre when records are released. When was the last time 2 or more MAJOR SELLING artist came out on the same day. That’s a rare event. That’s why a person like Rick Ross can debut at #1 and he barely goes gold with his heavy internet presence. In the 90’s a Redman & Method man with other artists would drop on the same day as well. So when you sold that meant something. Nowadays it’s like one real artist coming out & they’re are still having problem. So it’s not that hard to come #1 when you’re not competing with anyone. With all the promo money put into Nicki this was a flop. Jeezy got pushed back mad times and did just as good with his core audience.

This is no way a flop, but considering Nicki is a huge pop star now, and this sold 100k (!!!!) less then her debut, it shows people are not buying into this act. “Stupid Hoe” has MORE dislikes then likes on youtube, and nobody really cared for “Roman Holiday”. If she doesn’t get back to her more organic and real work, she’ll be struggling in 2-4 years. Hopefully this teaches her doe.
