Meek Mill Apologizes For “Amen” Uproar

Meek appeared on 106 & Park yesterday to debut his video “Amen“. At the 3:00 mark of his interview, he responds to the Philadelphia boycott surrounding the song and apologizes if anyone was offended.

In a statement, boycott leader Pastor Johnson ended his protest and embraced the rapper’s apology.

“This apology was the condition for lifting the Call-To-Action boycott. While I have made the choice not to listen to or support any artist that promotes blasphemy or misogyny in their music, I appreciate Mr. Williams being willing to acknowledge his wrong. It is my sincere hope, that he, along with all popular rappers with their fans, will embrace God’s total forgiveness by turning from the sin promoted through mainstream Hip Hop, and trust solely in Christ for salvation.”

People who say they are offended are unable to control their own emotions so they want others to do it for them. Religion is all bullshit anyway. Can’t wait until it completely disappears.

  2. tyang122 says:

this boycott made both sides look stupid as fuck

  3. Scrilla says:

JESUS IS A MADE UP CHARACTER BY SOME PAINTER! SO IS JOSEPH, MARRY, AND GOD. THE BIBLE IS ALL LIES!

    ATHEIST-1
    CHRISTIANS-0

  4. Niyemortal says:

That is very mature of Meek. #Salute

  5. calamitycal says:

To subjugate to religion’s an unneccessary flaw. No way he should have apologized. So, since he does believe in a god, he’s now lying and saying he’s not going to sin again. Religous patrons are society’s victims.

  6. Kory Powell says:

  7. realwickwickwack says:

Wow Meek got played by that man …

  8. loch121 says:

IDK why Meek said sorry but, I guess it was political.black ppl are sensitive about religion and he’s an urban act so he’s kind of dependent on them liking him.

I wouldn’t have said sorry but, it was done to cause a fuss and him saying sorry may have been part of the stunt.

  11. Truu says:

But at the end of day, the question remains….WHERE WAS YOU AT??

  12. County of Kings says:

Why the fuck did he apologize he did nothing wrong and he didn’t insults Christians at all by this record. Once again Christianity thinks they can bully whoever they want. Amen is a word used in Christianity Judaism and Islam. But since this Christian is offended and takin it personal he gotta apologize???? Fuck outta here
Ppl use amen in social setting all the time, ppl use the word preach all the time. This is similar to terrorism, Christians do not have sole ownership of the word amen and should t threaten to boycott a man because of it. If this man falls off and he with 20 of his closest ppl return to selling drugs then what good did this all do in the eyes of the church ?

  13. MeakMinded says:

Im sorry if religion doesnt work For some but to bash, ridicule And disrespect anothers faith is uncalled for. You say you dont believe in god, understandable.. But to sarcastically thank him and misconstrue the message from the good book for personal gain.. straight disrespect… So yeah, I will accept his apology and hope that he can grow as the artist that he is and man up when he knows hes in the wrong. And as for the pastor… You dont condemn the flock, but pray God forgives.. Tolerance is a two way street for the self absorbed and the self righteous.. But in the end we move towards universality along with the dettached and down trodden.. Give Respect and Get Respect.. The universe will always balance itself out

  14. God>>>>Meek says:

I just wish he would’ve done to a Jew so we’ll never have to hear him again.

  15. Nathaniel says:

“…trust solely in Christ for salvation.”

^the lack of practical application of statements like that, as well as worship of a 2,000 years deceased man that never TAUGHT worship of him is why the organized so-called religion of christianity has produced bore little fruit up to the present day. Johnson is a hypocrite.

and he said “i’m sorry if you felt disrespected” …that’s not an apology for making the song. i’m glad he didn’t apologize for the actual (s/o to 50) record.

  16. God>>>>Meek says:

This guy still thinks because he gives sneakers to his hood that gives him the right, or makes it ok for that type of action.

  17. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

Meek is a clown just like William L. Roberts.

  18. CROMER BEATS says:

Dude…I didn’t agree with the premise of the song…but if your gonna stand behind your actions, stand firm.

  19. Nathaniel says:

    @meakminded

i think meek said he didn’t believe in God out of emotion. he talks about God too much in the music (and interviews) for that statement to be taken as sincere. what i think he was feeling was “the way you see God and religion isn’t the way i see it, so you can’t pigeonhole me in your measuring stick” or something like that. at the root of the entire radio fiasco, was what seemed like a lil pain of rejection and condemnation that the youth often feel when those who are supposed to give us guidance (especially older Black men) misunderstand us, and seem disinterested in understanding, showing Love, or looking past our short comings to see what the intention in the heart is… even when our knowledge is lacking.

  20. Get Real says:

That wasn’t a “real” apology Meek just appeased his contemporaries w/ some general jibber-jabber. As a God fearing dude I found nothing wrong w/ the song. Ppl need to GET OVER THEMSELVES. If the preacher didn’t like the song then he shouldn’t listen to or advocate in favor of it or Meek. But to go on a media crusade to garner attention for himself and his individual cause was unnecessary. Ppl always quote the word to suit their purpose by saying the bible says this, the bible says that. How about the bible also says to live and let live and unless there is clear evidence that suggests Meek made this song w/ malicious intent to mock God, his followers and/or their faith then leave him be and move on from it. I’m sure the pastor’s efforts could’ve been aimed at a more worthy cause that actually does have a direct impact on the residents of the South Philly area than some random hip-hop song that will be forgotten by the end of the summer.

  21. T says:

why doesn’t this nigga meek give books to the hood…sneakers smh..

  22. Goat says:

Did he just kinda sneak in the album gonna get pushed back? (just saying)

  23. PPrrootteesstt says:

People love to call shit apologies, when it isn’t an apology. He said if you’re offended, just know that I didn’t make the song with bad intentions. That’s not an apology, he’s just letting people know. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this track (morally speaking), and obviously neither does he, so people mines well fall back with all this “We want an apology” bullshit, cuz you didn’t get one here.

  24. A says:

This dude is so ignorant. First off, just listening to him talk makes me irritated. He claims to be so “in touch” with the streets, but then acts like an arrogant piece of sh*t.

Secondly, if you go back and look at his lyrics, the pastor is actually right. Meek did have a line about rape in a certain song. He also boasts about things that are not necessarily meaningful in the church. I am IN NO WAY religious, but I can UNDERSTAND this pastor’s point of view. Simply because Meek is too ignorant to defend in a way other than shouting obscenities and making him (and his peers) look like fools.

  44. Jules17 says:

I was actually at the bus stops that Pastor Jomo preeched at for two days about this song. and what he was saying was real. and people were stopping and listening. I was on a mission trip with my church and what he was saying while he was preeching was how could someone say Amen to such words that were full of sin. nothing against Meek Mill, but his song portrayed incorrect times of the use for the word Amen. and i whitnessed homeless people who needed a financial miracle and i prayed over them. GUESS WHAT (you non believers) ten minuets later the man came back and said he had his financial break through. so GOD is real. how about you take some time out of your “busy” lives and just PRAY.

  45. Jules17 says:

ALSO. i got to know Jomo personally and evangelize for his church. if youre in philly his church is accross from Mecca day car on somerset and germantown ave
