It’s love over wealth on Alicia Keys’ new single, which she premiered live back in April. Prior to releasing the new song, she performed it live last night during the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon.

I know this is a hiphop blog and all, and if your regularly coming to this blog that means that you have an appreciation or passion for hiphop specifically but that should also translate to an appreciation for music in general as well.

This is a dope song. And the visual was really dope too. From a creative standpoint that must have taken mad long and took mad effort to pull that video off like that, doesn’t look to be done digitally and I gotta respect passion poured into work regardless of genre. Plus the song is saying something real and uncommon nowadays.

I know we all “thugs” and “hiphop is the only thing we listen to”, but this is dope and I respect it and appreciate the art and time put into it.

We aint all gotta be killas, hustlas or crazy methaphoric spittas all the time, or at least we can be grown enough to enjoy something else behind the confines of our homes. Aint like someone asking you to do the waltz to it in the club or some shit.

how many singles she gon drop???? none r pickin up…

  6. Brutally Honest says:

Big up Alica Keys putting honest, thought-provoking “real” music got for the masses. Who cares what Swizz has done to AK since he knock her up. He creativily has her thinking out of the norm of what radio dictates as “real music”. This sounds like the protest songs that political minded artist in the 70’s like John Lennon, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin sang during the Vitenam wars. It’s time for us “thugs” to grow-up, do away with the materialistic mind-set that the commerical fantasy of fast-food rap has shown us. It’s a bigger world beyond the projects

  7. Throne says:

Rather see a AK post then a 360 post. That’s just me though.

  8. Coolaaa says:

Hello to AK ‘s PR people commenting . We feel you and love her music, just don’t feel like she ‘s ready to put stuff out now .

  9. luden says:

  10. Kaly says:

  11. King E says:

    @Brutally Honest I co-sign that.

  12. KAREEM says:

@BRUTALLY HONEST YOU SOUND LIKE A HO, LOWKEY.

  13. just sayin says:

These lyrics mean nothing when coming from someone who does a reebok ad/partnership. Just because it’s a “positive” message doesn’t make it honest music. Stop lying to us.

  14. veesky says:

I like it, simple but meaningful lyrics. Well done video too

  15. Toni B says:

I’m sorry, this song is garbage. The lyrics are positive but the song sucks. She could’ve just released a statement on her blog saying this. I haven’t been impressed by anything she has put out recently and I’m normally a fan of hers. Smh back to the drawing board A Keys.
