The day before Hov christened the Barclays Center, Elliott and I spoke on the impact of his concert series with MTV. Afterward, we kicked our favorite Jay-Z verse. Tougher than you think. Day three goes down tonight.

  • Inside I’m Ice!, Outside I’m Lava!

Nah the hottset line is “Insid I’m Ice!, Outside I’m Lava!” The hottest verse is Jay’s on the “The Watcher 2” off of BP 2!

  • bumpy johnson

set sail , i used to dock shots now i eat quail , i’ll probably never see jail , each tale contains more of the truth of the statue that allows me to go into detail , uh , close your eyes u cud smell , hov’s the audio equivalent of braille ……. HOV’S THE AUDIO EQUIVALENT OF BRAILLE ha ha hov is a fool for that one ………….

  • Chris

The stanning these two constantly do for Jay-Z is borderline disgusting….

  • slick

one of my fav hov verses is some real shit thats relevant right now with ross and jeezy beefing and fif and gunplay he said “mobsters opt to NOT get in beef theres no business in it ,it only brings police” is that some real shit or what? theres no money in beefing it only attracts po po

  • Cz

^aint no on win the rap game gonna use “inside I’m ice outside I’m lava”. Not lil wayne, not soulja boy, not even lil b would say that shit. That’s how retarded it, and by relativity, you are.

  • Black Shady

UGH another MTV video that I cant watch :/

  • Slim Baller

    This is gay as fuck

  • Kunta Kente

“ELLIOTT AND I” lmao… Hope Jay put a condom on before these two dick rode him smh…

  • JustMyOpinion

Not in the same league, don’t shoot at the same baskets/Don’t pay the same taxes, hang with the same b****es/So how am I in the way, what is it I’m missing?/N***a I been missing, n***a I been gone/The s*** that you just witnessed is the shit that I been on/And as for the critics, tell me I don’t get it/Everybody can tell you how to do it, they never did it – Already Home

^ Had that in mind, before I watched the video. Wait…..so these shows are, literally, 8 nights in a row?
I saw the Barclay center when I went home 3 weeks ago, amazing. It can be seen from like 3 blocks away. Can’t wait to go in, when I go back home in 3 months.

  • JustMyOpinion

@ Kunta why it can be two dudes just complimenting another dude on his success. I am sorry, if you’re not from BROOKLYN, you’ll never understand the feeling of ALL Brooklynites right now. It’s that simple. Majority of us, remember, as kids, running around that same spot, where the stadium, is located.

  • Brooklyn

MTV must of been on a tight budget. Was Sway busy?

  • Kunta Kente

@justmyopinion Was born in Brooklyn raised in Harlem. Jay-Z in my top 3 but I’m stilll gonna dick ride. I always said he a legend but I won’t go as far to call him Hov smh…

  • Respect

haha they were naming some weak verses

  • Queens Get The Money

I don’t blame you Jay-Z stans tho, Brooklyn hasn’t produce a promising rapper since Jigga.

  • Carlito H

OUCH to Queens Get The Money. That hurt!

  • Cruel Thing

@Kunta Kente They call him Hov because he goes in and spits his verse one time off the top of his head, so they started calling him One Take Hov or something along those lines.

  • @gtfomike

2nd verse on Can I Live

  • Kunta Kente

@cruelthing U really think it off the top lmao… Yes its true he does not write down lyrics but Jay even said himself its a rehersed verse. He’s a legend and you can’t take that away from him. But I will not call him the God of anything

  • Cz

@cruel thing they called him j-hova, making light of Jehovah.

@Kunta well technically off the top of his head would be what you call it when someone doesn’t read it off paper, even if it is rehearsed.

  • DJ Semtex’s Prothsetic

B.Dot and YN reminisce about the good ole’ times

  • bumpy johnson

they call him hov because he is the god of rap ………. when u study how long this guy has been relevant uptill now …….. the name hov actually fills the bill ……

  • buzz

  • slick

homie said he wants hov to bring junior mafia out. he forgot one thing, that shit don’t make sense if lil kim aint there

  • RoeLuv

They call him Hov cuz most of the rappers that came out when Reasonable Doubt was released are where?…((crickets)) I’ll wait

  • Joyce M. Wright

Funny as hell how some people jump in the comment pool just to say too many people riding JayZ dick. How did you come to that conclusion? Oh thats right, you just FINISHED READING what they had to say about JayZ….AGAIN. FOH

  • The Truth

Jay-Z would of fell off in 2002 if it wasn’t for Kanye keeping him relevant. I’m mean he came out with his debut in 1996 and didn’t have his first #1 song untill 2009 which he could thank Alicia Keys for that. I bet he won’t be able to make his next solo album without beats and concepts from Kanye and No I.D

  • Jaz-O

@JoyceM.Wright You can take several seats fuck boy!… Co-Sign @QueesGetTheMoney

  • Drake

  • bumpy johnson

@ truth how do u know jayz wud of fell off in 2002 whether if its kanye , no id or who ever u blame to discredit hov longevity , the guy is still relevent ……….. 2012 and counting ……

    • Joyce Marie Wright

co-sign @bumpy johnson: “2012 and counting”. Hova hell yall down many, many, Summers…..where’s the love?

  • Joyce Marie Wright

@Jaz-O….take it easy…if you use all your passion hating on my comments you wont have any hate left for Hova. Bob Marley was right…all you have to do is throw corn and the fowl come running. LMAO

  • The Real Truth

So nobody thinks Jay being married to the highest profile singer in the world has kept him relevant. Even people who don’t follow hip-hop know who he is because his bitch.

  • Devastation Inc.

They call him Hova because he flows religiously.
In my Lifetime Vol 1. The album.” One in a
Million ” was the song. Where I first heard him
reference it. Also on the Streets is Watching
soundtrack. He Remixed the song”One in a Million “and made it longer. How many people
seen the movie “Streets is Watching”

  • Rocky

Nas still relevant and he been rapping since ’94

  • michelle michelle

His run is unprecedented. You wanna say it’s Kanye, it’s Beyonce, it’s producers. If that makes u feel better go ahead. All I know is he gets my money every time, cds, concerts he never disappoints. I’m sure I’ve bought Blue Ivy a couple of bibs by now.

the reality is, we’re all gods, children of the Most High God. that’s straight out of the same Torah/Old testament “Jehovah” is found in. psalms. i never had a problem with “hov” because i recognize the god of self… and of all God’s children. shit’s simple to me.

i guess we’d rather just be niggas the rest of our days.

  • Chevy

if jay didn’t blow up like he did in ’98 there would be no rocawear, no State property, no Kanye, no rocnation, no Rihanna, no Coldplay, no Rick ross, no Jeezy, no 40/40, and this is all before he married beyonce so dont try and discredit this man

  • The Truth

@Chevy No Coldplay without Jay? REALLY you gonna credit Jay for there success. Just sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up.

  • Chevy

dumbass @Truth, -people jay put on when he was Def jam president : Rick ross. Young jeezy. Rihanna. Chris Martin. Nas.

  • The Truth

@chevy Your fucking retard. Most of the artist Jay signed when he was president of Def Jam were discoverd by L.A Reid. Nobody went out and bought a Nas album just because Jay-Z was his president. So to say Jay put him on you sound stupid. People all over the world been listening to Chris Martin & Coldplay way before Jay-Z gave them a co-sign. I’m discredit his achievements but Jay ain’t solo dolo with his success he hand huge team with him his whole career.

  • michelle michelle

    OK, so, make another Hov
