By signing Nicki, American Idol basically told Mariah we don’t give a damn about your 2 decades of experience and wisdom. We don’t care about your once-in-a-lifetime talent and the wealth of knowledge you bring to the table. We just signed you because you were cute and can attract some viewers. Oh and by the way, Nicki fits that criteria too.
How could American Idol not predict it would be a disaster? In terms of perspective, you’re comparing an infant (Nicki) to a grown adult (MC). You’re comparing a hot trend to a legend who’s work has passed the true test of time. There’s just no way their opinions could ever co-exist. They speak from two different worlds.
