As always, the highlight of last night’s Hip-Hop Awards were the cyphers. Personally, there weren’t any “oh shit!” moments this year, but I took the liberty of bolding the best spitter of each group. Here are the rips courtesy of yardie. Let the great debates begin.

need to hear the unedited versions i thought mook had the best verse in ruff ryders cypher but now listening back to it i think X really got off if i can hear what the bleeps were. gambino was best in his cypher and talib in his. mac miller was correct and snoop was correct simply because he freestyled.

Childish Gambino WAS THE BEST SIMPLY CAUSE HE CLEARLY FUCKED UP BUT THEN GOT RIGHT BACK WITH IT. HE WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE.
i had to listen to Joey verse like 3 times to make sure i didnt miss nothing and i didnt its still was weak as i though the first time i heard it and i like the kid but those bars are pretty half assed for him.

The Rza cipher had the best line for line MCs, they all burned it. the kid Joey Bada$$, Dricky Graham really went in, but all of em were nasty. Mac Miller and Hopsin showed out (loved Mystikal too), Kweli & Sarkodie killed it, the West coast rocked (Kendrick wasnt off beat, he was just kicking advanced flows, some of yall are just too basic to follow), and TI & Grand Hustle had a respectable session. The Ruff Ryders one kinda disappointed ’cause most of the RR heavyweights were absent (Eve & Mook were impressive, Cassidy & X killed).
@B.dot ……..dude childish gambinos verse was more original than Asaps, and it gotten crowd reaction.
But if anything angel haze shoulda got bolded, Asaps verse was boring and typical.

Kendrick Lamar’s ( and E-40 but Kendrick was more lyrical) verse was the only one that really stood out. Snoops wasn’t that impressive. -_-
Hopsin is dope lyrically but he overdoes it with the voice impressions, Highlight for me was seeing one of my top 5 D.O.A. artists, The Quiksta himself, spittin his rhymes permed the fuck out while poundin the beat on the domino table. That shit was dope.
T.I. might be dopest one IMO and b.dot always gon take a shot at Kendrick we understand u don’t fuck with him

BoB, mystikal (his delivery had me dyin), talib, Joey, dmx, Kendrick…Kendrick wasn’t off beat at all, don’t know what you were listening to.
And I lost a lot of respect for people today…I’ll admit I listen to some of his stuff if I see it on a website…but childish gambino?? He wasn’t even close to being one of the best.

Weak sauce for the most part. Yes Snoop that means you too, at least I see why he wears that hat now. Niggaz wasn’t sayin’ nothin. Childish had some shit. Mac miller flowed but he ain’t snap. E40 repped proper. Tip got wack juice on him I can’t put my finger on it. Wasn’t no Good music cypher that’s for sure. Wasn’t no Nicki Minaj /Joe budden cypher that’s for sure. Wasn’t no Rev run Ice cube cypher that’s for sure. Yeah shit was just weak this year.
Talib Kweli was the highlight of the night. Childish killed, 40 Water killed, and K. Dot killed. Hopsin was good too. Everyone else can fall back. Jean Grae seemed like she didn’t even wanna be there. Very disappointed in her verse.

Honestly, I hate Childish Gambino, but he had the most creative verse. Then came Jean Grae, then Ab Soul, then Kendrick. The only other verse that stood out was E-40’s because he’s so unorthodox with his flow. Everybody else is very forgettable. Thats my top 5, take it or leave it
40 water did his thing! I liked Snoops more cause it was off the dome. But they both were good.

That boy Donald killed it! Joey is one lazy ass rapper to spit a old verse for the cypher (from the song “Suspect”). He deserved to get booted for that shit.
