’12 Best Beats: #4 Salaam Remi “Queens Story”

Nas had a story to tell. It wouldn’t be the first time he talked about his Queens hometown, but it would become his most memorable. With Salaam Remi on the boards, the Q.U. producer allows aggressive strings to confront an unforgiving boom bap. The results are harmonious and leave Esco’s manuscript sounding stupid!

  8. Midsize Jerm says:

It’s a good beat no doubt, but there’s definitely been plenty of better beats this year, probably dozens more. From the same album I think “Stay”, “Accident Murders” and “Bye Baby” all had stronger, more memorable production. Personally, the beat I think I most enjoyed this year might be “Different Time Zones” from Wu-Block.

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means…Here’s this week’s Post-Apocalyptic Bliss Tuesdays cut, entitled “Stay Steady Smokin'”, the first drop off my upcoming mixtape, How to Make Love All Alone, which is dropping on Valentines Day: http://youtu.be/878wB1D48xg

  13. sway-z says:

I actually ain’t like this shit at all, when I first heard it. I thought it sounded like the typical, generic Nas beat ‘circa 06 . But now it grew on me, like a lot of that album has. Still can’t say it’s #4 though, that’s drawlin’

  14. Steve says:
