’12 Best Guest Verses: #1 Drake “Stay Schemin”

Drake had a pocketful of remarkable verses in 2012. But the one he delivered on Rick Ross’ Rich Forever reigns supreme. With a chip on his shoulder the size of the Grand Canyon, Drake put the emo rap to the back burner and delivered a “sweet” response to Common’s diss. Over The Beat Bully’s mellow drums and synths, Mr. OVO came out swinging: “It bothers me when the Gods get to acting like the broads”. No one was safe. Not even Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa. (“Kobe about to lose a hundred fifty M’s/Kobe my nigga, I hate it had to be him/Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym!”) Good ain’t good enough, but you’d be hard-pressed not to give Drake his props.

Previously: #5 A$AP Rocky “Hands On The Wheel” l #4 Andre 3000 “Sorry” l #3 Jay-Z “3 Kings” l #2 Big Sean “Burn

The only excuse you could possibly have is that there are too many too choose from, oh godddd

  3. FizzyPhizzy says:

“I’m Elliot Wilson and This isn’t the truth”

  4. Slim Baller says:

Take Care was amazing and this verse was also amazing

  5. Trilla says:

    Common still bodied him though.

  6. jake the snake says:

ross is a pussy he knew he got outshined so he didnt put this on his album…. he didnt give drizzy a verse on diced pineapples either….. he must be embarrassed about what happened when drizzy had best verse on aston martin music

  7. County Of Kings says:

drake murdered that verse. regardless of what u think of him as a man, he murked that.
if u cant see that then u just dont like drake that much.

best verse of the year is correct on this one.
niggas be acting like drake dont spit, your in denial, he is soft, but the boy spits

  8. the brain trust says:

Say what you want about Drake, but this verse was incredible.

    Definitely agree.

  9. Dashing says:

Wow. Just wow. Really RR? This is better than both Andre verses, any of Kendrick’s verses, Ghostface’s verse, even more memorable than 2 Chainz verse on “Mercy”?

It was a good verse, don’t get me wrong, but WOW the best guest verse of the year?? That’s insanity. That is completely crazy.

  10. Beaming says:

^ yeah hes embarrassed.. thats exactly why he still pays for hooks features and appearances…Pause

Are the people on here actual hip hop fans or are yall just some in the closet justin beber fans I really dont get it.

Side note…… Dope feature, u can hate on drake for being soft or w.e u wanna claim he is but when it comes to this rappin shyt he holds his own, thats jusst the truth cant deny it even tho ya soul is burning to hate on him… haha pretty good top not BAD!

  11. adrian says:

top 3 guest verse spots are on MMG songs… i might have to hear out mac diesel

  12. Tbones says:

Triplle beams dreams by Nas shit all over this Drizzy verse. Not surprised by YN’s choice though, he only rides with rappers that allow him to ride their dicks.

  13. County Of Kings says:

    @ beaming ……………..truth!!!!!!!!!

  14. Slim Baller says:

Omg TRIPLE BEAM DREAMS DOE THAT SHIT IS FLAME

  15. mike says:

“Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym!!”l

  16. Devante says:

That verse was Dope.. How the fuck do you pay homage and diss a legend in the same verse lol

  17. yeaaahh says:

This verse is dope as fuck, but no love for Jay Rock’s “Money Trees” verse?? I thought that verse was amazing and it should’ve been on the list!!

  18. yoooo says:

best verse of the year hands down
Drake in 2012>>>>>>>>everybody else (except kendrick)

  19. Realshyt says:

Even tho drake looks retarded he can spit! Lol
Wayne found him a solid rapper can’t hate. Still think andre 3k sorry verse should be #1

  20. D Twice says:

Andre 3000 verse on “16” definitely should have made it.

  21. John P says:

    Few things:

    1) What a weak-ass #1 choice. Not surprised though.
    2) Common still trashed him.
    3) Lol at the irony in Drake, the Lord of the Bitch-Made, complaining about dudes “actin like broads”. Aren’t the opening lines of Lord Knows about going through chicks’ purses and checking their phones while they’re in the bathroom? Get all the way the fuck outta here with that embarrassing, pathetic shit. You should be ashamed to say that out loud, let alone recording it…all while ruining such a monstrous Just Blaze beat.
    4) Kobe’s wife fired back at him, put him in his place, and he immediately apologized. She also made sure to point out that, despite how much rappers like Drake love to claim otherwise, Kobe ain’t friends with him. Barely knows the guy.

Dude has like 2 or 3 flows, and when he isn’t rapping the softest “I can fix you, girl” bullshit, it’s strictly about how young he is, or about clothes. Which is fucking insane, because have you seen how this dude dresses? The only way Drake wins has nothing to do with rap, or “the game”. He sells records because he’s a pop artist. Pop artists always sell records, and it is in no way an indicator of quality or skills.

And he’s not even the top-selling, over-confident, obnoxious, young, accessible Canadian pop lesbian–that honor goes to Bieber.

  22. D.Scott says:

Had everyone saying “B*tch you wasn’t with me shootin in the gym” this past summer…

  23. It's the roc says:

Makes sense, this was the best verse, all things considered. Crazy it is from the very beginning of the year. Things that early are usually forgotten or outdone.

  24. Concrete Rose says:

Drake’s verse was really on point. Definitely one of the best songs of 2012 from last year’s best free album. Rick Ross, MMG!!!

  25. mac DIESEL says:

    @ Big Homie

Drake had a pocketful of remarkable verses in 2012. But the one he delivered on Rick Ross’ Rich Forever reigns supreme. ……….NO WAY IN HELL U WROTE THIS SHIT!!!! NOT WIT YA SPELLING AND WRITING DISABAILITY!!!! WHO GHOSTWRITIN’ FOR U???

………..HA!!!! NOT SURPRISED DRAKE WON!!!! I’D GIVE IT TO 3 STACKS THOU!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  26. trent says:

    Shoulda been
    5. Ghostface- God Flow
    4. Jay Rock- Money Trees
    3. Kendrick- Blessed
    2. Andre 3000- Sorry
    1. Drake- Stay Schemin

  27. Professor Oak says:

This bitch ass nigga said “Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym” Then apologized to Vanessa Bryant like a fucking pussy for saying that line in the song.

Andre 3000>All them other rappers I can’t believe y’all niggas considered ASAP Rocky to have a good verse at any point in his career SMH

  28. sway-z says:

3 Stacks verse was easily tougher than this, not to mention Drake’s feature on Amen was probably tougher too

  29. M.T says:

I thought this verse would go unnoticed to be honest but im glad its #1 cuz this shit went HARD from start to finish. Drake had alot of memorable verses in 2012 but this is definitely THE VERSE OF THE YEAR.

  30. dro says:

I enjoyed this verse the most, 3k was close tho

  31. Rap Critic says:

Top 10 albums of 2012 in my opinion. http://rap-critic.blogspot.co.uk/

  32. JHP says:

You’ve also got to consider the impact of the verse “Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym” was one of the biggest rap quotables of the year, Drake did body that verse. Whether it’s verse of the year is an arguable opinion, but it definitely deserves to be on this list. You niggas really should give Aubrey his props though…

  33. Ramelo says:

Nas got more than 5 better verses on his album than all of these top 5 verses. And his Triple Beam Dreams verse is better than all these by a landslide. Pop Radar!!

  34. Catalyst says:

This couldve made the best beats tho!

  35. trae says:

niggas be hating, this verse was fire

  36. Mezz says:

    The verse was cool but…
How you say “It bothers me when the Gods get to acting like the broads” and then say “Kobe about to lose a hundred fifty M’s/Kobe my nigga, I hate it had to be him/Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym!”

Ain’t that gossiping like a broad?!? Just wondering

  37. that verse was definitely the best …

  38. Kenny's Dominos says:

I’m not mad that this verse is on here,
but how did not one Kendrick Lamar verse make the list. He out-rapped everybody last year JCole, Drake, Ross, Wale, Ye, Jay, Meek, ASAP.

Still a good verse though. “You wasn’t with me shooting in the gym!!”

and LMAO @ mac DIESEL’s comment. That paragraph WAS surprisingly well-written.

  39. To reiterate my anger that I posted at 3Stacks “Sorry” verse being #3, here’s my response to Drake being #1 (again) on an Elliott Wilson co-signed list

So Drake’s false bravado as a tough guy against a rapper who eats tofu burgers is a better verse than Andre 3000 “Sorry” verse?

    Really?
    (laughter)

“Pussy ass niggas on the internet”
if the shoe fits, wear it blogger

    @p0is0nedkoola
    Lester Bangs of hip hop
If your blog thinks that Drake is the best then you don’t deserve to see the Outkast reunion

  40. P.S.
Nas “Triple Beam Dreams” verse was better than this verse
and that’s on the same mixtape as this over-hyped song

I guess unless Kendrick joins MMG , he’s gonna only get as much shine as the people demand you to post , huh?

    smh

    @p0is0nedkoola
    Lester Bangs of hip hop
Great hip hop apparently reigns UNDER THE RADAR

  41. agrippagodson says:

I rarely comment, but this is just insane. This verse is full of lies , false claims more made up shit that usual. Fail.

  42. Black Shady says:

not only the best guest verse…but the best verse of the year

    yes I said it HA!

  43. ... says:

Honestly drake couldve had the top 5 slots in this section
No one fucked with him this year..he makes kensricks verses boring to me..and i mention kendrick cuz everyones thinks hes god mc

  44. Pergatory says:

Fuck that, Eminem should have had the best verse of the year. His verse on Our House was crazy. Better than anything else I heard this year except for Nas’s last verse on World’s an Addiction, and Joell Ortiz’s ENTIRE Fuckin Problems freestyle.

  45. Yallstupid says:

Best guest verse of 2012???? You gotta be fuckin kidding me. What a weak ass verse, all you fools are blind to the real hip hop all around you and you choose to only recognize the wack shit and praise it. SMFH

  46. Tokyo Tony says:

    Common destroyed the remix

  47. DETALES says:

    NAH… FUCK THE WHOLE LIST

BEST FEATURE VERSE 2012 :PUSHA T MERCY

  48. Midsize Jerm says:

I would have given the award to 50 on Hate Being Sober or any Action Bronson solo track.

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means…Here’s this week’s Post-Apocalyptic Bliss Tuesdays cut, entitled “Stay Steady Smokin’”, the first drop off my upcoming mixtape, How to Make Love All Alone, which is dropping on Valentines Day: http://youtu.be/878wB1D48xg

  49. Midsize Jerm says:

Nah bout forreal Jadakiss on “Stickup Kids”

Good choice, though to be entirely honest the whole top 5 features could be Kendrick verses.

  51. jose says:

Rap Radar dick rides Drake the Fake all the damn time. I truly believe drake has alot of ghost writers writing for this yellow ass nigga . I’m sick and tired of him . He truly acts like a bitch. HE is a POP STAR who caters to mostly females . Drake the Fake wants to act like he a thug cause he hangs out with a couple of hood niggas . fuck drake

  52. bry from Boston says:

Not gonna hate but nasal on triple beam dreams was #1.. Such a real verse

  53. Da Business says:

    @ the Rap Radar staff…

No hate here, I’m just wondering if u all would break down ur criteria as it relates to ur lists.

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the picks r dead on but, there r a few head scratchers. I guess I’m curious

on what these lists r based on. N!99@$ r going to front but, y’all hold weight as far as the web is

concerned. I’d be the 1st to admit that I’ve went back and checked shit out based on ur end of the yr

  54. Yea says:

Yea Jay Rock money trees verse should have been on here

  55. WTT2 says:

2chainz alibomaye was his nicest bout game still killed him

  56. RUTHLESS says:

So he really didnt include Nas for Triple Beam Dreams? Really? but u have Big Sean? Really.

oh and a nice feature that went over most peoples heads was Ruste Juxx on “Price and Shining Armor” (Sean Price, Mic Tyson)

  57. 5 years ago XXL fired Elliott Wilson for to much dicksucking and he later had throat problems for swallowing too much sperm says:

I KNEW A WILLIAM ROBERTS SONG WOULD BE NO 1

  58. OK..
Let Compare Nas Triple Beam Verse On the same Damn Mixtape..

A project minded individual, criminal tactics
Us black kids born with birth defects, we hyperactive
Mentally sex-crazed, dysfunctional they describe us
They liars, at the end of the day, we fuckin survivors
I remember watching Scarface the first time
Look at that big house, that Porsche paid for by crime
How could I sell this poison to my peoples in my mind?
They dumb and destroy themselves is how I rationalize
In a bastardized nation, magnum .45 carrying
Where I’m from ain’t far from Washington Heights to cop Aryan
A rookie boy, the cookie didn’t make no profit
A stranger to the block, I damn near had to make them cop it
It only took a fiend to taste it once to say it’s garbage
I brought it back to papi, ain’t trying to take no losses
He focuses on my emotionless young dealer face then pauses
He gives me powder, he has faith in Nas’ ambitions to distribute coke
Had addictions to gold chains, Mercedes Benz hopes, but I’m again broke
This shit ain’t cut for me, other dealers, they up their orders
Barely at 62s, they already up to quarters
They out there every day, some true hustlers for you
I’m at it half way, none of my customers are loyal
Picturing piping out the seats of a Pathfinder
Powerful pursuit for pussy, cash to flash diamonds
My junior high school class, wish I stayed there
Illegal entrepreneur, I got my grades there
Blaming society, mad, it wasn’t made fair
I would be Ivy League if America played fair
Poor excuse, and so I was
Throwing rocks at the pen just for the love
Before the evil, the secret life of G’s
You seeing my blurry, triple beam dreams

    VS Drakes
    [Verse 2: DraExplainke]
It bothers me when the gods get to acting like the broads
Guess every team doesn’t come complete with niggas like ours
That’s why I see no need to compete with niggas like y’all
I just ask that when you see me you speak up, nigga, that’s all
Don’t be ducking like you never wanted nothing
It’s feeling like rap changed, it was a time it was rugged
Back when if a nigga reached it was for the weapon
Nowadays niggas reach just to sell they record
Spaghetti bolognese in the Polo Lounge
Me and my G from DC that’s how I roll around
Might look light, but we heavy though
You think Drake will pull some shit like that? You never know
Million dollar meetings in a Polo Lounge
Me and my man Oliver North that’s how I roll around
Shawty wanna tell me secrets ’bout a rap nigga
I tell that bitch it’s more attractive when you hold it down
Kobe ’bout to lose a hundred fifty M’s

She used to soda and nuggets she really just out here thuggin’
I’m just hittin my pinnacle, you and pussy identical
You like the fucking finish line, we can’t wait to run into you
But let me get my mind off that
Young rich motherfucker getting mine off rap with my niggas

And 3stacks verses was better too.

  59. 85 says:

nice Verse boy, but the track should be called “Stay Leasing”

  60. Cp says:

i guess only niggas wit money get recognized for decent bars these days….

  61. Evil says:

EMs verse from Slaughterhouse song Our House should have made the list.
That verse is just sick. Not just rhyming wise but his technique and flow is just amazing.

  62. @BlueScalise says:

This was the best guest verse with the most quoted line. But once again…. French Montana ruins a Very Good Song.

  63. @BlueScalise says:

Once again French Montana ruins a perfectly good song.

  64. @BlueScalise says:

How could this be the best verse when Common ate their lunch on the Remix. Also French Montana just ruined the whole song.

  65. foekist says:

This site fell off. I’m deleting y’all from my bookmarks. Marks!

  66. ARTOXICATION says:

Wasnt with me shooting in the gym. Too potent, what man cant relate to that. On a less important note, it set the club on fire. The line everyone yelled. Made for great nights…

  67. Dub town says:

Hot ass verse followed by special Ed worst flow of the millennium ..aka frenchy

  68. mrholloway says:

Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym! That was the hottest line of 2012…

  69. @BlueScalise says:

It doesn’t matter. French Montana ruined another track that was classic.

  70. ROZAYS LEFT TIT says:

wtf really ? it was a good verse but verse of the year ? damn i can name tons of verses that were harder than that in 2012 but eh “this is the truth” right RR?

  71. Lantern Core says:

Best verse of the year I agree

I’m not gonna lie though, when I found out Vanessa Bryant threw shots at Drake for the line and he apologized…It kinda made the blow in his verse less effective.

Since when do we have to apologize for our opinions.

You don’t have to be a Gangster or w/e drake.
But damn man, don’t take away our ammo…

  72. DJAR says:

don’t you lot understand there’s more to a great verse than what and how they spit. sure andre had the maddest flow and his verse would it not be for this drake verse be number 1 HOWEVER the effect of this verse and the timing it was spit and the subject matter coupled with the response it garnered places it as the best verse. niggas think all that matters is flow. there’s far more to a verse than the words

  73. Graby says:

Drizzy bodied this track and murdered all of his guest appearances last year. Toronto >>>>>>>>>>>

  74. The original lucci says:

Most talked about verse hands down on the #1 mixtape of ’12 Rich Forever!! The rap game is drakes the next 10 years.

  75. Deej Tran says:

    Why stop there RapRadar.com?

Why not make this Drake verse the best rap in the history of Hip-Hop? Big Sean’s verses should be inducted as the best in Hip-Hop’s history too.

I mean “Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym”

that’s got to be line in rap music ever.
