Good thing Drake never threw away his Grammy speech. Before the televised ceremony, Drake’s sophomore set Take Care, won an award for Best Rap Album. On the red carpet, he spoke to FUSE about his scoring his first golden gramophone. On another note, Drake recently settled the lawsuit surrounding “Marvin’s Room”.

Ima go head and say this and I looooooove Nas music. But we been hearing Nas rap the same way for how many years. Nas kicked I’ll ass verses over dope beats. Drake sang, rapped, topped the charts, had hits, creative production and was just different. He deserved tha award, he’s still a new artist and early in his career. Nas has had his whole career making albums like Life Is Good.
Nas has the ultimate Respect. That’s not something that’s voted on by cultural tourists that’s common knowledge of OUR culture. Look Tity Boi’s glorified mixtape was nominated, those little trophies mean nothing to hip-hop. Undun is a masterpiece, Life is Good is a masterpiece. Congrats to Drake no doubt, but those gramophones are only good for two things sippin yak and ashin L’s.

I wouldn’t say Take Care was better than some of the album he beat but I can say the win is well deserved. This dude has been killing the game

‘Cherry Wine’ shoulda won Best Rap Song. ‘No Church in the Wild’ was dope, but I think Cherry Wine is one of the best songs Mr. Nasir ever made (and that’s saying something).
I honestly thought Take Care deserved to win Best Rap Album though.

@Donn, yea he sang for like half the album, and it was best RAP album, drake shouldn’t have won it,. Shoulda been in RnB or that urban contemporary or whatever they called it with Chris brown and frank ocean.
Looks like he’s got some of y’all convinced but he can have a Grammy, I’ll still treat his ass like a nominee.
It was a GREAT album. I can’t say that I can even choose between Drizzy and Esco but I won’t argue for or against this.

First off i would like to say drake is my least favorite “rap” artist ever, whom only recently ive been able to bare listening to him on the radio. To me he is the perfect Illuminati rapper boy, exploited the street stories of your typical rap fan, while hes really a mixed black / jewish kid who never really had a struggle. I wont even say that drake has no talent because i would say he can write some lyrics, but i think the game is in such DIRE need of something fresh, that this is allowed to become almost greater than its supposed to be. ALOTTA of the niggas who COCKRIDE on drake are 90% of the time backpacker weirdo wannabe failed rappers who somehow live thru drakes, cockiness. I still think he is gay.
He ISNT hip hop, but he DOES rap. Hes definitely more of an R & B artist with bars.

Your speaking from ur personal preference of what U think is and is not amazing. Both Drake and Nas are great artists and Nas has been around for over a decade. Drake’s style is inventive and he’s a new artist so y doesn’t he deserve the award. If Nas won I would be happy for him too. Both of those albums were brilliant but Nas album was nothing different than what he’s been doing for his whole career. Nice to see a new artist take home the gold
Props to Drake, he deserved the award. Nas is a legend and doesn’t need validation from the Grammys. I thought “Cherry Wine” gave me him a slight edge tho.
Can’t hate on Drake tho, Take Care was a monster of a lp, like it or not.

Your argument makes no sense. You’re gonna fault Nas for making great music? Yes, he’s been rapping the same for years. But good music is good music, regardless. Weigh it up equally regardless of if Drake sings. So just because Drake can sing, he has an advantage over EVERY rap artist unless they sing too, regardless of if both albums were good? Restate that comment because it sounds bias and Stan-ish honestly. Drake winning it was cool with me too because I liked his album but Nas deserved it.

I didn’t say or imply that Nas should have won the award, I think they got it right. W was pulling for nas, but for what the Grammys is and represents, Drake definitely should have won that award. It was you making it seem like nas rapping the way nas raps throughout his whole career was some kind of issue that was the problem. If you start crowning people just to diversify, you are definitely not putting quality at the forefront. Again, not saying that’s what happened, I’m just responding to that one statement you made.

Happy for Drake. It really was an amazing album and he deserved it. Life is Good is also a fantastic album. Nas did get robbed tho. That Amy Whinehouse record shoulda won and Not “No Church in the Wild”. Still Congrats to Drake.

Nas should have WON! Fuck those talking about “Nas been rapping the same.” Nas is a LEGEND whose creativity/ability to tell stories has given him the longevity & respect only a TRUE ARTIST DESERVES! No award can give you that…Nas will continue to make great music and God willing he will maintain his integrity in the process.

i agree with who said “Cherry Wine” should’ve won over “No Church” , dont get me wrong that was a dope song too, but “Cherry wine” had Amy winehouses beautiful voice, plus the groovy jazzy production, just a beautiful song, Nas did get robbed in that category. i bet even Jay knows Nas shoul’ve won
