R.I.P. Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly
This is some wiggedy wack news. Chris Kelly of the rap duo Kris Kross has passed away today. He was 34. DJ Greg Street reported his body was found at his Atlanta home this evening. According to local news outlets, the cause of death was a drug overdose.
Back in February, he joined his other half during So So Def’s 20 year anniversary concert. R.I.P. Mac Daddy.
UPDATE: Chris’ mother, So So Def and Jermaine Dupri’s statement.

To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.”

Jeez, remembering buyin totally krossed out and Michaels jackson’s dangerous on tape, the summer of 92. The first music tapes i spent money on EVER and the first hip hop act i was ever a fan of. . I should have been in atlanta for that show!! i always thought if they ever toured, i’d pay money to see that. R.I.P Mac Daddy…Kris Kross was my favorite rap group during my childhood. So much so that I thought I was the third member of the group. Mac looked so excited to be on stage at the So So Def 20th reunion concert. You will be missed. Much respect.
