Kanye West Talks Next Album

Less Is More.

Kanye’s currently in Miami partaking in the Art Basel festivities. And during today’s chat with architect Jacques Herzog, he revealed some ideas on his next album, which will be produced by Q-Tip and Rick Rubin.

I think my next album is going to be eight songs. It’s just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can’t take anything else away. [Yeezus] was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here. If I hadn’t made Yeezus, I wouldn’t be sitting here with this cool font at Basel right here.”

  1. Rufus Buck says:

So his next ‘album’ is in actual fact an EP.
I love Yeezy, but he is one confused motherfucker.

    1. Norrie says:

Depends on how long the songs are. Illmatic clocked in at a skimpy 39 mins. Less is more.

      1. T says:

        Yes.
“TEFLON DON” was short but GREAT.

    1. 86 says:

Just so we’re clear, Rick Rubin executive produced both Yeezus and MCHG. I mean, I assume you’re trolling, but still…

      1. Guest says:

Executive produced Yeezus only, he just listened to MCHG and pointed out ideas..

      2. S Dibie says:

Executive produced Yeezus only, he just listened to MCHG and pointed out few ideas..

        1. bleh says:

I might be in the minority that wants rick rubin to stay the fuck away from the next album.

  4. HeyBuddy says:

8 song album? WTF? That shit ain’t cool. I mean Yeezus at 10 is cool, but 8? Is the price gonna drop too? One would only assume so, damn.

  5. brza says:

borderline lazy imo I mean Kanye was great when he was fresh on the scene bc the music came first I couldn’t wait to hear what he had next his production was exciting but now

  6. yamsayin says:

so if he took a departure from radio and popular music…. why has he ended his press hiatus?

  7. MassConglom says:

  11. Chronic says:

This dude has forgotten what it means to make good music. He’s trying way to hard to be a “revolutionary” and he needs to get back to his roots and remember where the fuck he came from

    1. IV says:

You came from the same pus i was in last night.

  12. That Guy says:

Let Yeezy be. This dude is one of hip-hop’s outliers we need that outsider shit, do not knock it.

  13. That Dude says:

It sounds like people are missing the fact that Q-Tip is also executive producing. The same Q-Tip that drastically inspired Kanye’s soulful sound in the beginning. That can only mean good things.
