Yasiin Bey Banned In The U.S.A.?

Brooklyn In The House?

Apparently, there’s no country for Yasiin BeyBoston’s Together Music Festival posted on their website that the artist formerly known as Mos Def,  scrapped his tour because he was unable to enter America. Although he currently lives in South Africa, Bey was born in Brooklyn, New York. It doesn’t take an INS expert to see that something isn’t adding up.

We regret to inform you that due to immigration / legal issues Yasiin Bey is unable to enter back into the United States and his upcoming U.S. tour has been canceled, including May 15th, Together Boston’s show at The Wilbur Theatre. Individual ticket refunds for this show are available at point of sale.

I hope the OG Mos Def hasn’t been labeled as someone to watch out for which is better known as a terrorist. This isn’t the first time he has had trouble with immigration, hopefully he isn’t over in Africa associating with the wrong brothers in higher places, cause that would definitely cause Mos Def to get banned from the states. But hopefully the OG can rock the stage again.

Any american who leaves america for a long period of time to a Muslim country will be a target. Changing his name legally to a Muslim name just makes it worse.

  6. Dina says:

Actually, it might just be that he overstayed in South Africa and that he hasn’t renewed his visa or needs to renew it and pay the fees before being allowed out of that country and returning home. It’s a likely scenario for expats who choose to live abroad.
