New Music: Frank Ocean “Memrise”

Odd Present.

The last we heard from Frank Ocean was a year ago on Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail. But today, the reclusive singer returns with a new, yet, puzzling recording. If you find yourself lost in translation, he transcribed the lyrics on his tumblr page.

  1. gay man bars is something you batty bwoys got to deal with LOL

  2. Batman says:

Damnit Frank,,you leave us hanging for a year and you release this SHIT?! why

  3. JustInCase says:

Oh wow, thanks Frank, looked forward for some time now to hear this crap.

  4. The Rock says says:

Can’t listen to this man talkin bout fuckin since I know he sweet

    1. Davide Leroy says:

Nigga your favorite rapper is probably sweet.

      1. Smh says:

        Non sequitur logic at work

  5. ThePopesBalls says:

    bun dem

  6. Davide Leroy says:

    Love it.

  7. Sean Price says:

Im sorry shit just aint the same… When you hear this nigga talking bout anything intimate you know he talking bout some other nigga…. Nigga said “i can fuck you all night long from a memory” im gone automatically think of some faggot shit… Im cool i cant get jiggy with this nigga’s music no more… it is what it is….

    1. Chronic says:

The whole point of music is you can listen to and it apply your own meanings to it…just because the dudes gay you automatically think of gay stuff? Maybe you should re-evaluate what your interested in….you sound a little gay yourself.

      1. Sean Price says:

Listen homie I feel what your saying. And im guessing i offended you since you felt like you couldn’t just make your point with out throwing shade… I know its a touchy subject for some, and its cool if that’s your lifestyle… I just said it aint for me.. I listen to isley bros and wonder what inspired these words, i dont just hear music i listen to it… i like to break lyrics down and analyse the composure… I cant get jiggy with it, I didnt say you couldn’t..

        1. Chronic says:

You’re throwing just as much shade my man….You were the one saying hearing a gay person sing makes you think of gay things. And I’ll agree this song is kinda trash…but saying you can’t fuck with him cause he’s gay…that’s just ignorant.

          1. Sean Price says:

Maybe you should take the time and re-read what I wrote. I never said when I hear a gay person It sing makes me think of gay shit. I said I did not want to hear him sing about anything intimate… I even gave you an example of the lyric. I never said anything about not wanting to hear him sing cuz he is gay. I actually like some of his music… But when he starts singing about Fucking and sucking I don’t want to hear it… Does that make me a terrible person? Sheesh

          2. Chronic says:

Ok, let’s look at what you said.

“Nigga said ‘i can fuck you all night long from a memory’ im gone automatically think of some faggot shit”

So a singer saying that he’s gonna fuck someone all night from a memory instantly makes you think of a bunch of gay stuff….please explain how this doesn’t make you gay?

You’re saying you don’t wanna hear him say anything intimate…yet you also claim you don’t mind him being gay…yet the whole reason you don’t like the intimate parts is because he’s gay (rarely does he ever make it blatant he talking about a guy, so much so I’d guess dude is bi not just gay.) You realize that’s contradictory right?

And honestly I get what you’re saying…but choose your wording better you ignorant fuck. Oo yea and please tell me one song where he mentions sucking dick? Cause I still ain’t heard it.

          3. Capuccino says:

u the only one thats bein ignorant smh. people listen to and interpret music different ways, some ride with a melody, others let the bars and music paint a picture, and we make our own interpretations. for me and sean, we can no longer relate to the vibe we get from frank ocean’s music, so we dont rock with it. callin that ignorant is like sayin the rams cut michael sam cus they dont rock wit homosexuals smFh man…

          4. Chronic says:

They cut michael Sam because he wasn’t that good. Frank ocean is one of the best male singers to come out in the last decade. If he was blatantly saying some gay shit I’d agree, I couldnt fuck with it. And this song is kinda trash, but if he never said he was gay, I bet Channel Orange would be held in an even higher spot on top RnB albums of the last decade in people’s mind. And I don’t care if you disagree, but not liking something or someone just because homosexuality is somehow involved is ignorant.

So pretty much what I’m saying is, if he hadn’t come out, would you still be saying you cant feel his vibe? Or would it only be about that the music isn’t good? If it’s the former, then you’re ignorant.

          5. Capuccino says:

u missin the point bruh, i dont enjoy hearing a man talk bout fuckin another mans ass that dont make me fuckin ignorant. and my example with michael sam was showing that he was not cut because he was gay, but because he wasn’t good and didn’t fit the system. i dislike this track not because I’m ignorant, but because it wasn’t good and it doesn’t fit for me.. shit u gettin me tight for no fuckin reason smh

          6. Chronic says:

Give me one song where he talks about fuckin a dude in the ass…or about fuckin a dude in general. He put out a letter saying he had a gay experience when he was a teenager and now everyone went from saying how dope the guy is to a bunch of homophobes like you saying how horrible he is cause all his songs are about ass fucking and sucking dick.

          7. Sean Price says:

So according to your logic… A guy could be a known child molester. And when he sings about “touching his soft skin” you’re ok with it as long as he is talented because you can interpret it how you want and apply your own meaning to it… Where I am saying because I know his sexual orientation, and since I dont subscribe to it, hearing him sing on matters such as that makes me uncomfortable. But your cool. which brings me to my point… everything aint for everybody… If that’s you…that’s you… it aint me…. so chill fam.. you looking stupid out here.

          8. Chronic says:

People never had a problem with MJ and he was a child molester

          9. Sean Price says:

Hold up… SMH. MJ was accused of child molestation, and the case was closed due to lack of evidence… in no way can you tell me he was convicted of that crime. I can’t say as a “fact” that he was a pedophile, nor can anyone else. So please use a valid example next time. Furthermore, I don’t subscribe to group thought and you shouldn’t either… so even if he was, I would still have a problem with it. Just because the majority accept something doesn’t mean you should…. I guess you would have subscribed to slavery at its height since people never had a problem with it… smh

          10. Chronic says:

So if you’re favorite artist came out tomorrow and announced he was gay you’d instantly hate him and his entire catalog of music? And also the fact you consider child molestation and homosexuals as equal shows once again how ignorant you are.

          11. Chronic says:

And honestly I’m not even a frank ocean fan…but it kills me seeing this sort of ignorance when it’s about to be 2015

          12. Capuccino says:

wtf u keep sayin ignorance, I’m not feelin the fuckin song get off his dick bruh I’m allowed to not like the song. it kills me to have to listen to ppl like u shove this shit down our throats. yall got ppl scared to voice they opinions cus GOD FORBID someone dont wanna hear bout suckin dick, all u blog nazis r ready to attack him. i have nothing against gay or lesbian people, my childhood best friend that is a girl is dating a girl for the first time, my uncle and godfather is gay, i got nothing against it, so stop fucking calling me ignorant. i personally think suckin dick should be private and they own business, other ppl can do whatever makes them happy they dont gotta force the world to give them permission. tha fuck, imean i aint never had someone ask for my approval to 69 wit they girl shits all fucked up. but back to the topic… i guess u just not intelligent enough to understand this because i have to tell u a third time, but when i listen to music i dont just hear a clusterfuck of sounds and voices. for me every beat tells a story, and the verses paint the pictures. now obviously frank ocean has had different experiences in life than me, so his mindset is different than mine when he writes his music. as far as just this song specifically, the paint aint show up on the canvas FOR ME. i couldn’t really relate to where he was coming from, and the beat limited what he was able to do with it FOR ME. that is why I can’t rock with it, now i can’t speak for u or sean or anyone else, only for myself. thats the great thing about music, how we all perceive it in our own unique way, which is why ill always have the same amount of respect for a Nas fan as a souljaboy fan as a stevie wonder fan. now u can keep attacking ppl for their opinions and shit or whatever, but just ask yourself “do normal gay and lesbian people want you forcing their personal sexual preferences on others? if u can’t come up with an answer, then ask a gay friend or coworker, I’m sure you will be surprised by their answer. now leave me alone

          13. Chronic says:

And oo yea, you missed my point I was trying to make with the Michael Sam thing. I was saying Michael Sam had no talent and didn’t make it because of that. But Frank Ocean has more talent than 90% of the music industry and might never do anything big again strictly because of people like you

      2. SpaceGhost says:

You just took it somewhere that it didn’t have to go. Let that man like the music that he likes for the reasons that he does or does not like it and you do the same. We can all co-exist without agreeing on everything. I don’t approve of the gay lifestyle personally, but I don’t hate people that are either. So with that said, I agree with Mr. Price, but I still respect YOUR view on the matter good sir.

        1. Chronic says:

You I respect…cause you’re not claiming this dudes music is ultra gay and that he’s talking sucking dick and taking in the ass, which he’s never done. That’s what got me heated about the other guys comments

          1. Just saying says:

I feel where you’re coming from but you act like him singing about intimacy & kissing people should NEVER make people think of his own sexual preference. No homo but when a singer has lyrics like “wake up with you” “touch your skin” etc if you’re hetero those thoughts probably make you think of the opposite sex. I think dude is saying it’s easy to WANT to put your own interpretation on it but when you KNOW dude is gay, you automatically equate “touch your skin” (which is harmless/can go both ways, no homo) with the male singer touching another male.

I rock with son’s music but if you can’t comprehend that basic “turn off” (no homo) then you’re either being willfully ignorant or you just lack comprehension.

Oh yeah, this song wack…I hope this nigga drops another Novacane, that shit was flames (no homo)

          2. Chronic says:

Once again, if the music itself is filled wth gay shit, then yea I’d agree, I couldn’t listen to it. But other than like a song or 2 that kinda hints at it being a guy he’s talking about, none of his music is like that.

          3. Just says:

So admittedly he has songs that are straight up gay, but people should ignore those because if he isn’t blatantly referencing men we should be “sexual-preference-blind”? That’s pretty idealistic. I’m not really a fan of dude but he has some really good songs, I just don’t get why people are posturing like it’s strange that people feel weird about him/his music since he came out the closet.

I was listening to a song of his (don’t know the name) yesterday & he says something like “She has the world in her juicyfruit, he has the world in his pants”….with a hetero artist I would automatically assume the “he” is himself, but coming from Ocean it sounds almost like he’s comparing two people he’s romantically interested in…& it’s moments of ambiguity like this where the message can get lost & assumptions can be made.

    2. Lateef says:

Luther was gay and his shit is great….

      1. Sean Price says:

Excellent point…. But Luther never confirmed that shit…LOLOL.. so it’s just speculation as far as im concerned.

        1. Lateef says:

Gay and into incest… Had a song about dancing with his father. Cmon… Lol

          1. Sean Price says:

Yea I know you’re right …. That song got all types of pauses… But I guess it just goes to say that when the music is that good it transcends a lot of shit… Look at R Kelly , MJ, Lil Wayne, Young Thug to name a few… Which is kind of the point other dude was trying to make… I rock with channel orange… But then there are just some songs that are too pause worthy… I actually said that Forrest Gump song was dope, but not for some dude to sing… beyonce should have had that track… Certain things you can let slide certain things not so much

          2. jjj says:

The world is a more bitter place with people like you. No hate though.

          3. Sean Price says:

You act like I said the man should die and be burned at the cross, lol I just said it ain’t for me. I’m a keep it moving. Why should I have to like and accept everything forced upon me? If you ask me the world be a better place, if people could just have their opinions and keep it moving.

          4. dumb says:

            “pause worthy” lol
I get ur point but I mean just know yourself and you good.

          5. SpaceGhost says:

It is very refreshing to see two gentlemen having an online discussion that is void of nonsensical insults. This is how it should always be. We don’t have to agree on everything, but let’s always show the world that we don’t all fall victim to stereotypical online posturing with one another. I applaud this dialog to the 100th power!

With that said, I tend to agree with Mr. Price. I respect Mr. Ocean, but I can’t get jiggy with some of dude’s lyrical innuendo. He makes great music, but I always skipped “Forrest Gump” after listening to it once…..it makes for a weird experience if you don’t live that lifestyle and since I don’t, I can’t rock that track.

          6. Sean Price says:

Thats all i was trying to say.. lolol

    3. Sway am says:

This is the dumbest shit i ever heard. How the fuck does it bother you? Like when dudes go to fuck they girl and start playing Chris Brown music n shit i think that’s worse than listening to Ocean at all

      1. Sean Price says:

Got damn got the fudgepackers coming out the woodwork..

    4. Sway am says:

U said it yourself, “i’m gonna automatically think of some faggot shit” haha faggot

    5. calcal31 says:

he says “never forget her face” immendiatley after… so i would assume hes talking about a woman

    6. cmonhomiewemajor says:

hes not fully gay..he just liked 1 guy

hes been fuckin dimes (women) since then bro

    7. xtrajordinary says:

Yo why does that creep people out? I feel like people think if they enjoy this music then they’re gay or something. Personally, I could give a shit less if some people are gay and sing about it. If it’s tight music I’m gonna bump it regardless. It’s 2014 fam…get comfortable with your sexuality

  8. el jim chapo guzman says:

This nigga got sugar in his tank.

    1. Well then says:

      You should relate

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

        are you gay?

  9. yeah says:

Well “you’re soo thick” goes both ways so eh, atleast makes it listenable. But it’s not a repeat listen just off of the music alone.

  10. Guillaume Pilon says:

    the dream )))))))))))))) frank life

  11. Papi says:

Sounds like some shit rich people would take a bath to
