    1. VJay213 says:

Can’t deny that. Only a few stand out tracks. Solid project, enjoyed it, but it far from an exhilarating roller coaster ride.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

        I agree.

      2. Word says:

“Solid project, enjoyed it” wait so whats the problem? You say “its not an exhilarating roller coaster ride” like thats a negative.

        1. VJay213 says:

Well it was like renting a Porsche 911 for the day without ever really putting your foot down. It was a smooth ride, but personally I never got that “GODDAMN” feeling, or not enough at least.. I take back going as far as completely “boring”, but would’ve enjoyed a bit more 200km an hour over cruising 60 with the top down

    2. yeah says:

That is the oldest joke dude. There was definitely enough going on on that joint. You probably just couldn’t pay attention

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

I’m entitled to my opinion fagg.

    5. Kip Thanatos says:

Honestly, I agree. I felt the first few tracks were solid, but then it falls part towards the middle. It’s like this man, J.cole, hasn’t truley grasped the concept of an album. What I mean by having a grasp on the concept of an album, is having the ability to create an experience from track to track, with an array of different topics and instrumentals that are captivating. This is primely the reason why THE BEATLES, the first band to ever create an album, are regarded as geniuses. They were album to create an experience that is complete from track to track. I feel he needs to learn either from his influences like Nas or Pac – these artists have created albums that are cinematic, and even though some tracks at first listen you’re not completely immersed in at the moment, with due time, that track would end up grabbing your attention in the future. BUY TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY, now that is a complete experience.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

I agree Kendrick put to much mustard on the album.

  2. Negus says:

2014FHD is platinum and Cole is one of the new kings in this rap sh*t.

  3. Vest says:

Where is the DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION GUY?

    1. MR. UNDI$PUTED THE MOGUL says:

  4. yorapper says:

Most people forgot about this album by now. But it is funny how J.Cole and Kendrick trying to occupy that pro-black rap lane as if it makes them something unique, when they’re rhetoric is basically the exact same.

    1. Bkmkj says:

False…they are about real life and real rap kendricc just dropped a pro blacc album so you saying they occupying that lane..no he is in a pro blacc state because of what is goin on around him at the moment stop being a hater and open ya ears up fugg nigga…these niggz are trynna do something differen than your normal trap trash and you bash them for it..no keep your lame ass hater thoughts to yourself…

  5. Jay says:

  6. Hellobro says:

Its a dope album. but some of the tracks are kinda boring.. i dont really listen alot to apparently, hello and st tropez. but theyre not wack, just boring. Riff raff tracks are wack.

  7. GetReal says:

you niggas saying cole album is wack are fuckin retarded and its hard for me to respect any of y’all opinions without the overwhelming feeling that you’re fucking retarded

  8. Jesus Ernesto Alejos says:

i loved when they spoke on the education system. it really is designed to keep the future dumb and uninformed.

  9. Critical Thought says:

Album was dope… just doesn’t have the replay value I hoped for. Honestly, Kendricks new shit is the opposite. If you’re gonna like it, you HAVE to replay it. I don’t think either one of them has released a masterpiece yet, on the level of The Cool, but they are getting better. I think both of their next projects will be their best to date.

    1. JReezy says:

To Pimp A Butterfly > The Cool

      1. Critical Thought says:

disagree in every way… it was coo, but Kendrick tried too hard. felt forced, and over produced.

        1. JReezy says:

I was lowkey joking with that last statement. I agree that J. Cole hasn’t released a masterpiece but I don’t see how you can look at how the narratives come together on both good kid and To Pimp A Butterfly and not call them such. Along with the narrative execution both projects are just dope music throughout. The production did feel a bit overwhelming on TPAB at first, mostly the first track, but Kendrick fit right in and he and the production both contributed to one another. I like the organic feel of the production on the album. I know a lot of people don’t though.

          1. Critical Thought says:

He attempted to do the revision of G-funk or something, and sounded good on it- but disjointed compared to GKMC. Almost like a whole different artist. Like going from Outkast Stankonia to The Love Below. Doesn’t even sound like the same person.

          2. JReezy says:

I felt the same before going into the album. Mostly just the King Kunta and i singles. Initially anyway. It’s definitely funk inspired, jazz too, hints of older Hip-Hop as well. I think the production melds together well though. Everything fits without Kendrick necessarily sacrificing his style. He’s got the conceptual storytelling down that people are used to from his past projects. So while it’s a different sound it seems like he was able to work with it how he wanted.
