I don’t think the style of music is why so many people (including those who are fans of s.80 and gkmc) disliked this album, but rather HIS execution with this style. Production was great, good features.. he just didn’t mesh well with the style. He took a risk but now that the hype of the “instant classic” reviews and “best album of the year” statements has died down most people don’t care for it anymore… if they ever actually did.
I disagree, I think he did blend the sounds well. I, U, Alright, For Sale, You aint gotta lie, Hood Politics and How much a dollar cost are all great to me. Wesley’s theory the skit after and Institutionalized could go but thats it. Not saying its a classic but definatley a solidly good album.
