I can tell you guys only listen to rap. Yes they are “weird” for a “rapper” but for a songwriter I’ve heard both of those songs by other artists before.. you guys need to broaden your music library thooo foreal.
I think these songs are even worse if you listen to wide variety of music, though. Like I grew up listening to Nirvana so Judgmental Cunt just sounds like a shitty ripoff to me. And anyone who’s heard an ’emotional’ acoustic song has heard a better version of “Wedding Tux”… Cudi hasn’t improved much at guitar, and while he was at the top of the hip hop game at one point if he wants to make rock / grunge / ‘punk’ he has so much competition with established acts he will never be able to come close to there level of talent… the real problem for me though is not his playing but his lyrics… I never thought he was the best singer or musician or anything but I always fucked with his lyrics and message… now he is just whining singing shitty repetitive and petty lyrics that I can’t fuck with… how far he as fallen.
“I grew up on Nirvana” is the equivalent to a kid who grew up on top 40 saying “I grew up on Hip Hop”.
