J.Cole has released his Forest Hills Drive Live compilation which features live audio cuts from his homecoming show. Here’s a visual for the final cut featuring performance and backstage footage.
Its tracks like this that makes me say j cole is better than Kendrick lamar. The message of this song is so simplistic but yet so relatable. I like me some metaphors and complicated verse sometimes but for the most part I need a message that is direct and goes down like water.

I feel u. Although I feel that Kendrick is the betting emcee overall, Cole’s ability to relate and reach the listener is remarkable. He’s comparable to Pac in that sense. There’s n!99@$ u listen to, and then there’s n!99@$ u feel. Cole has mastered the ladder.

Very disappointing live album. Way too boring. J. Cole takes no risks and does nothing to innovate or elevate the sound of hip hop. I feel like every project he does is the same story told over different beats.
Kids like him because they don’t know rappers have come out and done what he does, 1000x times better. J. Cole has no style and no originality. He continues to come off as more of a fanboy of hip hop culture than an actual rap artist with his own unique position in the rap game.
In 50 years time we will remember Drake as an awesome, outspoken, creative, singer/rapper and Lil Wayne as an incredible writer, story teller and genius, but how will we remember J Cole? What is his place in hip hop? What is his purpose? Who is J. Cole and what is his contribution? After all these albums I still don’t have a clue.

I hear what your saying but your speaking for yourself obviously. HipHop isn’t that to everyone. It’s a way of venting and not picking up a gun. You want that for someone else but what they want for themselves is totally different. If Cole was doing nothing different then those stadiums wouldn’t be packed with crying kids reciting every lyric saying his music got them through l. If you like uninspired hip hop, I guess you’ll like this live album too, but don’t expect anything ground breaking or innovative. If I had to rate it I think I would give this album a 3 out of 10. It’s not a bad album, it’s just bland and too familiar.
