Kanye Rants & Debuts Music at 1OAK LA

The Life of Albert

“People tryna say I’m goin’ crazy on Twitter”

Guess there are parties in L.A. Last night, Mr. West kept it live over at Los Angeles’ 1OAK club for Yo Gotti’s album release party. After cracking the mic, he went on a rant backing Tidal, Taylor Swift, fashion and music.

Afterwards, he premiered a record titled “Closest Thing To Einstein”. Subscribe to Tidal and stream Kanye’s The Life Of Pablo here and pick up Yo Gotti’s The Art Of Hustle on iTunes.

Yeah! Fuck white people, amirite? So weird that you’re able to translate our thoughts without being white? That’s an amazing talent. Have you had a chance to speak with Rhymefest? Last time that I checked he’s one of the “white people” that you just described yet he isn’t white? Weird?

      1. SaniAbacha says:

Rhymefest is your answer?? Last I checked Rhymefest is salty cos they are not trying to work with him as much. Consequence tried the Rhymefest angle and has retracted all statements and basically brought himself back. Hate is a bad thing. White people are threatened by Ye and he needs to up his security. We lost Pac already.

  3. Chill says:

I remember they were writing articles saying that Kanye was going to dip on Tidal and release his album through apple music. Since then Tidal has done B-Sides, Made In America, and exclusive releases with Beyonce, Ye, Lil Wayne, TIP, and Rihanna. And Ye is saying Apple won’t even get the album. Tidal has had some hiccups, but way more successes. Not to mention it shares more revenue with artists than the major streaming services AND the $1.5 million donation to social justice groups.

    Why they hating again?

    1. hands mahoney says:

not to mention 2 exclusive albums by Prince

  4. el jim chapo guzman says:

Only Kanye would do something like this hoping to garner more sales by releasing it on tidal only, this might bite him in the ass sales wise, if it’s not on bill board how will people know whether to buy it or not, bill board is one way of knowing if the album is good or bad..

    1. Maurice ReBe' Bass says:

Billboard displaying how many albums were sold does not equate to the album being good or not. Taylor swift sold millions of her last album. Does that make her album better then jay rock last project?? Lol don’t think so…unless you’re into that kinda thing.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

WHO????? jay rock!!!!!! Who the fuck is that.

  5. Dashing28 says:

It’s absolutely true that most people who comment on how wack Tidal is haven’t even been on it. It’s basically the same as Apple or Spotify, except for a few things:

    1) Has a version with higher quality music
    2) Has exclusive music with a lot of hip hop artists
    3) the artists you support get paid 5 times more per stream (Spotify pays artists (0.00408 cents per stream)
    4) Tidal is majority owned by Jay Z

For some reason, black people and hip hop heads are hating on the idea of paying the actual artists who make the music. And feel more comfortable paying Tim Cook at apple of the extremely wealthy owners of Spotify instead of suporting artists who’ve provided the soundtrack to their lives for the past 20 years. For some reason we’d rather clown the idea of it and predetermine it’s failure not based on the merit of the app but because we want to hate on Jay Z and see him catch an L.

At the same time, we ask Jay Z to do more for the black community. Then we find out that Jay has been paying for Sean Bell’s kids education, that he put pressure on the NY governor to make reforms to reduce police brutality, then we find out that Beyonce has pledged to help with the crisis in Flint, Michigan and that Tidal has donated $1.5 million to BlackLivesMatter. Exactly how much do you think Apple or Spotify is donating?

And even if Tidal fails, it has already had an impact on the bottom line of Apple and Spotify forcing them to publicly address and modify the amount that artists get paid per stream.

Jay Z, Kanye, Beyonce and them are not gods. They aren’t perfect. And they could always do more, but if you think that random white billionaires are going to do more to support the culture then you are wildin.

      “If I don’t like it I don’t like it / That DON’T mean that I’m hating” – Common

I don’t like Tidal. Plain and simple. Not you or anybody else is going to tell me that I’m “hating” because I choose otherwise. I prefer iTunes and Apple Music. That’s my personal preference.Signing up for Tidal just so he can say that he’s a genius and his influence alone made it happen! You don’t see Beyonce or any other artist on Tidal screaming on their fans and ranting the way he does regarding? And what does Louis Vuitton reneging on a deal with him have anything to do with Tidal or the consumer? Nathan! Because it’s all about Kanye! Artists such as Drake etc who’ve signed with Apple Music aren’t haters for signing with them are they? It’s a business move. And maybe that artist prefers Apple’s platform. We all saw Drake speak at the keynote. He was passionate about joining Apple Music. We’re allowed to have our own opinion without it being considered hating. Rap culture created the term “hating” and it’s since been one of THE most overused and played out terms of this past decade

      1. Dashing28 says:

What I wrote has nothing to do with Kanye’s opinion of himself, Louis Vuitton, or Drake or 90% of what you wrote.

If you don’t like Tidal based on the merits of the app, good. Then what I wrote doesn’t apply to you. Re-read my comment. I’m speaking to the vast majority who haven’t even tried the app but were clowning it since the beginning. For them, yes, the term “hating” does apply.

        1. Chill says:

Agreed. People say “Tidal sucks” “I don’t like Tidal” yet never articulate a reason why. People who use Tidal don’t try and shit on Apple Music or Spotify Use what you want. But anytime someone metions Tidal people start with “Fuck Tidal!” Like damn, is it that serious?

Somone from our culture owns a streaming service then made it so other artists can buy in. And then donated to causes that support people of our culture. Whether you like Tidal or not we should still be applauding that. And if you’re saying you don’t like Tidal and you haven’t used it nor articulated a reason why, by definition, you are a hater.

          1. uʍop ǝpısdn says:

Correction. By definition, they are suckers.

        2. uʍop ǝpısdn says:

Dashinng28 can you please give a warning alert the next time you pour those ice cold factuals down our throat. WE CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!!

      2. marty mcfly says:

He made a comment about Tidal and Jayz… You made a comment about Kanye hating on Drake at Apple? If you don’t like the service then don’t get it. The mans comments wasn’t personally directed at you. He’s speaking on the hate Jay and Beyonce get even for doing shit thats positive and THAT HATE is very real indeed.

        1. Savimbi says:

“That’s my personal preference.Signing up for Tidal just so he can say that he’s a genius and his influence alone made it happen! ”

He really has something personal against Jay. which proves Dashing actual point lol

          1. Guest says:

Not at all? He proved nothing. I don’t like Spotify either! I don’t know Spotify’s back story and I still refuse to sign up with them. This has absolutely nothing to do with Jay or Kanye being Kanye? Put it this way if Kanye was doing the same shit (rants/bs) for Apple Music/ iTunes right now I would STILL think he’s an asshole but I would STILL choose Apple Music/iTunes because it works for me! Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth now?! Geez

          2. Guest says:

And I say this with full knowledge of what Tidal provides to the artist and consumer (which is great for both) and If an artist decides to not release their music on Apple Music/iTunes then that is their right as an artist. I will find it another way and then import into my Apple Music/iTunes library/playlist. Apple Music/iTunes works best for me. That’s it. Nothing more

          3. Chill says:

Dude you’ve typed a shit ton of words and still have yet to to explain your “I don’t like Tidal” comment. I mean of course you’re entitled to your opinion. You can definitely prefer one streaming service over the other. But you felt the need to comment on it and you haven’t really said anything. In fact, you just paid it a compliment.

          4. marty mcfly says:

He said people are hating… This is a generalization not a personal attack directed at you. There were people just hating on Tidal at just the mere knowledge of it existing. Thats just a fact. Yes there are some that just don’t like the service and yes there are those that just hate… Now as far as the service itself? Imo if you go so far as to get the service then you must be a big fan of music so why somebody would get the service and then say they don’t like it? Idk because to get the service in itself imo seems like something somebody who’s REALLY into music would do so I don’t see how they could be mad at the service but again the comment was a generalization and alot of it is based in truth. There are many people just praying for Jay to take a L at something so they hate anything he does in business period.

          5. Chill says:

            #bars
            #fortheculture

          6. marty mcfly says:

Word. Kanye shouldn’t have to go to anybody for a billion. He should be able to go directly to Hip Hop and say he needs everybody to send him a dollar and Hip Hop should back whatever ideas he wants to pursue. Not necessarily just because its Kanye but because its about the culture. If Kanye wants to make flying cars or create new curriculums for schools then he should be able to get the money from his culture without asking any Zuckerbergs. Hip Hop is the most influential culture on earth because this culture was meant to lead the world in anything it wants to do, whatever ideas it wants to express and whatever innovations it wants to make. Fuck asking, just do…

          7. Savimbi says:

You specifically said you would not sign up for title because jay z would bolster it as him beiing a genius or his influence alone making tidal happen. Lol you said that not me.

          8. Guest says:

Jay? Specifically said KANYE! Jay is more than good in my book and always has been. Re-read my comment again I am CLEARLY referring to Kanye. Good lord smmfh

    2. Judge Joe Dredd says:

Bro this is the exact sentiment I’ve been trying to expound on through some of my comments on RR. All I can derive is the years of slavery, segregation and Jim Crow Laws significantly impacted how African Americans view themselves. I mean there are niggers, yes niggers that believe African Americans do not deserve reparations for their struggle…. So of course hating and hoping for Tidal, Kanye, Dame or Jay Z’s to catch an L comes second nature. I feel sorry for Black Americans…. The Lost People of America.

P.S your comment was well said.

    3. spaghetti murphy says:

if the artist is willing to sign on the dotted line then that’s on them in regards to Tidal paying their artist more than other streaming companies. we’re suppose to be giving these artists intellectual credit aren’t we? you mentioned that Jay has been secretly funding Sean Bell’s children’s education which is great but to be honest a majority of consumers won’t take half of this into consideration because they go with either what they’re know or what’s more accessible and proven. change is tough for a majority of folks. these conversations don’t always have to be about race but for some they’d rather make it so which is unfortunate. I could care less what race or nationality Jay is? what does that do for my streaming experience? absolutely nothing. try and think about this situation without race in mind. how would you approach it then?

      1. Chill says:

Well, I get your point, but it does matter. The hip-hop community makes no bones about taking shots at Jay and other major players for not doing enough for “their people.” Yet when he tries to build something which has supported the community, it’s shat on. Race also matters because the press generally tries to shit on Tidal. For instance, when it first was relauched all the articles and commentators lied about the fact that it was 2x as much as all the other services. Never pointed out there was a $10 option. I find it funny that happened with the streaming service that’s majority owned by the black guy.

  10. smmfh says:

lol at Kanye disrespecting Bob Erin’s kids on Twitter? Offering them Yeezy’s like they’re the cure for cancer? smh who’s Bob Erin? A legendary producer. Look him up! He produced Jay Z’s 2004 documentary Fade to Black” for those of you who don’t know. He worked on 3 Pink Floyd albums including “The Wall”. the guy is accomplished and has valid points about how disrespectful Kanye is! Y’all just don’t want to admit it. Kanye is not above everybody. It’s only a matter of time before he disrespects your favorite artist etc and then maybe you will understand that he’s a shithead. nobody on here can’t stay that Kanye isn’t an asshole? I resisted Tidal but Vladmir’s mom subscribed and that’s where she made all of our sexytime playlists. After a while I started being addicted to all the Tidal exclusives she kept showing me.

When Vladimir’s mom broke up with me I subscribed to Tidal maybe just to win her back, but after a while I found myself actually addicted to it. The interface is better and they have so many exclusives like that cowboy movie etc.

I’m back with Vladimir’s mom now but if it doesn’t work out, at least I got Tidal.
