TLOP was sloppy, poorly mixed (for major studio standards) with no continuity and is his worst album lyrically. There isn’t one GREAT song on that album. Maybe Real Friends. Ultralight Beams sounds like every other contemporary black gospel intro ever recorded.
Like Dre’s “Compton”, people are giving TLOP acclaim because of the brand behind it.
If a new artist (Vic Mensa, TUT, Raury, etc.) dropped TLOP, the conversation about it would’ve ended 3 weeks ago.
Dude has taken over the southern throne. One of the only guys making real music out the south.
