Troy Ave and his lawyer Scott Leemon held a press conference outside of Irving Plaza this afternoon. While Ave looked on, Leemon announced that a lawsuit was filed against Irving Plaza for allowing a gun to into the venue. In May, Ave was shot and his friend was fatally wounded. He’s currently out of jail on $500,000 bail and barred from performance halls and bars.
This is a bad look for HipHop cus if he wins venues not gonna fuck with rap shows anymore cus those venue owners are connected with other venues too. And if he loses the fact he sued them will leave bad blood as well. This ain’t good

This is GOOD for Hip Hop. We don’t need any more fans in the middle of your beefs. Leave that for the streets. Venues need to smarten up. If you banned Hop Hop performances because you lack funds for security or for any other reason, you should be boycotted. SIMPLE. HIP HOP is the leading genre in music and it will be that way for a while.
Lets just hope that it doesn’t spill over into the other 98% of rap shows which don’t end in shootouts and the majority of rappers don’t get penalized for beefs they never had and violence they never participated in. Hip Hop is the leading genre due to about 2% of its acts, the rest of the culture is bleeding money and sells and have been for years now. Shows are most artists last real chance to expand their professional career. Once that goes, its a wrap.
