A Waste Of Time: Celebrating Roc-A-Fella

It’s The Roc

The Roc was definitely in the building at NYC’s Highline Ballroom last week. ItsTheReal (Jeff and Eric Rosenthal) celebrated the legacy of Roc-A-Fella records with a live episode of their “A Waste Of Time” podcast.

Joining the 2 hour discussion of rare stories included co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke, president Chaka Pilgrim, A&Rs Kyambo “Hip-Hop” Joshua and Lenny S., engineer Young Guru, producer Just Blaze, and artists Freeway, Young Chris, Neef Buck and Jim Jones.

Dame got too big for his boots and got shot down. Jay finally saw that Dame is a street hustler who is just not able to evolve into a corporate player, Bringing in Cam was the nail in the coffin. Dame knew Jay and Cam had issues and should’ve known egos were gonna collide.

Would have been nice to see Dame up there. They had a great run and put out classic music. I was watching Backstage the other day smh it seems like so long ago.
