Eminem Will Go Gold First Week?

alt

According to early reports from Hits, Weezy, the expectant father, can sleep at night.

SALES REHAB: Based on very preliminary reports, it would appear that Eminem’s Relapse, which hit retail today, will sell somewhere in the mid-500k range, and easily top next week’s HITS Album sales chart. Can it hit 600k? If these early figures hold up, that would make it the year’s highest-selling debut of the year, giving Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope the top two bows of the year, including U2’s No Line on the Horizon, which entered at #1 with 480k back in March. Sidebar: Speaking of sales. Joni Mitchell YN never lied. Killa did Jomo numbers. Full Top 50 chart here.

    HipHopDX report:

Documents have been revealed to HipHopDX suggesting that Best Buy retailers have reported over 6,000 physical units of Eminem’s Relapse sold by 10 am, this morning (May 19th). By these projections, the day will see an estimated 133,000 units sold of the Shady/Aftermath/Interscope Records star. According to these figures, the album will be on pace to sell approximately 288,000 units at the mega-retailer alone.

The same projections also revealed that Method Man & Redman’s Blackout 2! sold over 1,000 units (combined between regular and deluxe 2CD editions) by 10 am, forecasting the Def Jam release to surpass 50,000 Best Buy week sales.

Busta Rhymes’ Back On My B.S. is expected to see approximately 25,000 week Best Buy sales, while DJ Drama’s latest Gangsta Grillz will just eclipse 10,000 units.
