RR’s ’09 Best Singles: #7 Maino “All The Above”

Last summer, Maino became the first rookie since Fabolous to bring a platinum plaque back to Bedford Stuyvesant. In his singature chant, Maino declared, “Take a look, and you can tell that I am destined for greatness”. And with the help of T-Pain and Just Blaze’s boom bap, “All The Above” unexpectedly became a seasonable anthem. Disagree? Hi, hater!

  8. Dashing says:

    @Chap

    Just Blaze produced the track with Nard and B. Actually they sent him the beat with a different, slower hook about drugs. He reworked the piano loop that they already had and added everything else to the track. (drums, strings, synths etc.). And he wrote the hook and got T-pain to be on it. He even sang on it on the bridge. So, he did the bulk of the production, but yeah the main melody sprang from Nard and B.

    I think Nard and B sampled the track Journey by Michael Montes, the song used in that Canon football commercial.

    Now that that’s cleared up…I don’t think this should have made the list, especially over the Snoop, Drake/Trey, and Jay Elect. It didn’t have the impact of any of the other joints.

  9. Can says:

    It’s a “Live Ya Life” rip-off beat and concept, with a T-Pain hook that also sounds really similar to other things he has done.

    What makes this the best of anything?

  10. BLACKFLAGNEIL says:
