Rev. Run Comments On Diggy’s Deal

In an interview with NY Daily News, Rev. Run speaks on his son’s burgeoning rap career. Everyone’s got connects, he did it without one. Below is Diggy’s interview and freestyle with the News.

I thought he needed help. He just ran off and started doing it himself. All I did was watch it happen. He created a hype on the Internet on his own. It’s really hard to believe, but it’s the truth.

  1. Shorty is better than alotta so called “nice” rappers hope he just stay in his lane and do him…That Flo Stooopid joint was def hot >>>> http://addicted2fresh.net/blog/young-kid-fresh/

  2. pissed says:

like father like son…get em Diggy! Lil dude is nice…i hope he sticks with it & does well…no hate here.

  3. hurryupnbuy says:

whatever run says, it’s still HIS son. can’t compare that to nobody else. but he is kinda nice.

  4. That Dude says:

i hope he has like a 2 album deal then by the time he gets older (18)…he goes to G.O.O.D

  5. Nathaniel says:

lol. i fucks with diggy. (pause)

  6. Cunning Link Quest says:

lol @ rev run acting like diggy didn’t have help. c’mon son… he signed with Lyor Cohen.

    Diggy is nice though!

  7. 730 says:

Everytime this young man rhymes there is truth and substance……..that alone gives him an advantage over most of these fairytale rappers. As far as sustained talent….we’ll see.

  8. Your Father says:

Someone better hide the all the belts in the Simmons’ house.
That nigga JoJo finna kill his self now.
    Cuzzo lost!

  9. reef says:

    the kid is a winner

  10. will says:

I dont get why niggas is hating on this lil dude I mean what is it becuz you cant get on or something in the end we all have help getting on and the helper is called a manager so even if dude get on by his pops thats just like any other manager doing his job

and its obvious rev run did not help his son becuz if rev holds that much power he couldve got Jojo on and not only that member that Charles Barkley “TURRRIBLE” song Angela and Vanessa Had if Run has that much pull he couldve help his kid with no talent too LOL

at the end of day for a 15 and 3 day old kid diggy is nice he remind of the Nigga Casey Veggies when he was 1st coming to the scene think about this soulja boy was 16 releasing Trash and got a deal with Interscope so why cant a boy who has talent at 15 get a deal with Atlantic I mean his raps are popular that Flow Stoopid shit was released last week and the shit got like 100 K views already and like 70 k listens

this lil nigga just got done go thru puberty and he already got grown ass niggas hating on him LOL

    Team Diggy Cuz

  11. who says:

Diggy has justified his deal by putting in the work to create a buzz, and by having the talent to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Dad and “Runs House” obviously helped to persuade whoever ok’ed the idea of signing the kid.

Let’s not forget, nowadays, if u have a following, a current buz, and some type of brand to market, u WiLL get a deal…eventually. Congrats to Diggs. Now its time for that Drake/Diggy collabo.

  12. nick says:

yo that michael jordan line was nice.. hes definitely got more skill then soulja boy or the other weak ass youngsters in the game… just sayin

  13. Young Nas says:

Do your thang Diggy! Stay on ghe right path with that really hip hop and don’t turn to that bubble gum rap shit.

  14. bgirl says:

Awwwww, I just wanna pat him on the head.

  15. DARKAQUA says:

HATERS GONNA HATE…JUST HOW THE WORLD IS RUN

KUDOS TO THE YUNG FELLA…GOOD LUCK! 🙂

  16. yessir says:

in a few years he’ll be hot?.. but for now… I can’t buy his stuff. I don’t listen to 15 year old music. No disrespect. I need that hard hip hop struggle. “spitting in queens, in 99” no disrespect, but i don’t believe you… you need more people.

  17. Will says:

man to be honest only reason I dont like him getting his deal this early becuz alot of kid stars get fucced up in this game Look at Soulja Boy one day he talking about Bowlderizing his music and 3 months later he on Ustream with a blunt in his mouth talking about he got the muchies

at the end of the day Soulja Boy is goin to be on Coke if he already isnt and dude is 19 and his face looks like a 36 year old that Mugshot really revealed how that smoking catch up to yo ass I never seen a Teen with that many wrinkles and blemishes on their face

thats the one thing I hate about young blacc stars they get involved with the wrong crowd and they fucc over their youth

Like I dont like Them lil Niggas being with Wayne calling him Brother and shit when Wayne kisses a nigga who he calls his father like what if them two lil niggas decided wayne was a father figure to them

I would rather hear an album by Diggy when he hits 22 then hear about his 2nd rehab stint or posting bail at 22

all in all I dont understand how yall can hate on this kid he nicer then some of these grown ass men with Major Label Distribution

  18. ReppinHard says:

Cory Gunz should’ve copyrighted his whole swag and flow #hatepost but none the less congrats to the lil man

  19. jose says:

he had a buzz b4 his 1st bar, its called Run’s house,

  20. Interscope Employee says:

you tellin me his pops didnt help me get the deal at all? hard to believe

Diggy is like a young Cory Gunz lmao

  21. Oj Da Cornball says:

While he did his thing and surprise people and got this deal, no one can’t fron’t that label didn’t signed him cause of who they knew he was. It’s part of their marketing plan.

Come on now, Dre’s son, Hood Surgeon, only cause he wants to do it “on his own” indy etc…
but labels are like “if this dude would sign a Dre co-sign & production is imminent and easy”

While Diggy skill got him there, who he is was what made Atlantic interested. Nothing wrong with there too.

  22. Mike Bett says:

Like alot of other ppl i said good things when i heard his freestyles and shit ..thought he was good, suprised me etc etc…
But all this he did it on his own shit is complete falsehoods…so they didnt shop him a deal and call in favors…he created a buzz yes…But the only reason he created a buzz so easily is because of who his father is…None of these blog sites would have posted those songs up and had ppl respond, if he were just another kid who could rap…He’d just be another one of the tens of thosands of people who is capable of rapping correctly, out of the millions who try. No pessimism…just sayin

  23. mistahzee says:

Mike ur correct but still after saying that, the dude can rap so i have no argument on how he was found. thats like my pop being obama and niccas getting mad because i got a job in the whitehouse. i got educated and worked hard to get in there but still my pops is obama so everything else is over shadowed. fuckit 😛 ya cant please people so diggy should just keep doing his thing and dont stress it.

  24. Mike Bett says:

not that theres anything wrong with getting somwhere off the strength of someone else…just gotta embrace it if it’s the case…

  25. Mike Bett says:

Nah im just sayin cuz how hes saying he didnt have his fathers help, and the “everyone got connects he did it without one” comment

  26. KingJuggaNott says:

LOL @ Created his own buzz……O’really?

  27. Gusto says:

Congrats to Diggy. Good luck in the game. I’m sure his father will steer him in the right direction.

    Peace.

  28. yaboitone says:

lmao. i think its hilarious just how many people are going to believe this nigga REALLY didnt have help just because his dad said WHAT HE IS SUPPOSED to say. lol.

    ignorant niggaz.

  29. yaboitone says:

oh yeah, and the “he did it without one” line suggesting the same…..sad.

we know that the people that run this site arent gonna cross Rev Run though. lol. dont blame u for that, but at the same time u can just be neutral. you dont have to insert dick into jaws, by suggesting that obvious bullshit. lol.

  30. The Noydd says:

I wonder if there are a few Gunz behind that suspiciously familiar flow?

  31. hendrixmcflyy says:

help or not flow is nice…..stop the crab in a bucket syndrome shit pls….thats why you work HARD..so your SEED wont have to see the SAME struggle..ie the financial one…were black in america so the struggle is self evident ,OBAMA or not…hip hop is about your experiance not IMAGINARY CARS, MONEY, PIMPGAME,BIRDS THESE RAPPAS AINT NEVER SEE MUCH LESS SOLD..GUNS YOU AINT NEVER SHOT ECT.good to see a young EMCEE come up,NOT ANOTHER CORNY AZZ “LIL’ rapper…im done…

  32. yaboitone says:

^u dont get it idiot. its not about him getting help. it’s about ACTING like u didnt. faking the funk. being a fraud, a fake, a liar. thats the bullshit.

Nothings wrongs with being privaleged. in fact, most people wish they were. but call a spade a spade.

  33. Money Mitch says:

Does anyone think he would be taken more serious if we hadnt seen him get grounded and in trouble for havin a fridge in his room and shit lol

  34. tim duncan says:

no one would give a fuck about this bland ass borin vanilla pre pubescent ass nigga if his dad hadnt made classic albums to act like he just got on myspace and posted music and got a deal from that is straight retarded at least man up and be real about shit instead this fruity jesus freak trying bamboozle our asses fuck outta here

  35. AUTHOR OF THE BIBLE says:

first drake right off degrassi now diggy off mtv..smh… man hip hop is fuckin dead…..i heard screech just singed a deal with g unit………r.i.p. real rap

  36. reason says:

yeah he’s good I’ll give him that but im not about to start listenin’ to some 15 year old rapper who’s on an mtv reality show.whatever happened to lettin’ kids grow first?

i mean let the kid finish school first , i’d be keen if he were 19 or up ‘coz seriously, what can he rap about(that won’t sound like some just bieber sh*t) w/out comin’ off like he talkin’ about somethin’ he know very little or nothin’ about.he need a little more life experience.c’mon Run you got enough money to wait a little before gettin’ ya kid mixed up in the industry!

  37. reason says:

second, although he’s good he’s not good enough to deserve this level of hype. it seems to me like yall are just caught up in the fact that he is 15 and got a record deal. hip hop is a grown up’s industry and yall need to look at him from that view.

this justin bieber and the like crazed society is givin’ kids credit for simply being kids in their industries.

    *smh*

  38. Jay Fingers says:

Wait … Screech got a deal with G-Unit?!

    That’s flippin’ awesome!

  39. bigdoug72 says:

I guess no one remembers what a decent flow sounds like anymore. It’s cool he’s tryign to follow in his pops footseps.. and yes he’s better than Soulja Boy and other non-emcee “rappers”, but be honest. Diggy’s flow needs work. He’s flowing almost exactly like his pops…. which in 2010 is not a good thing.
